I'm trying to stay away from refined sugars so I was excited to see some menu offerings of "no sugar added" sorbet, brownies, etc.... I do NOT eat SUGAR FREE foods.
So I'm wondering what the "no sugar added" foods are sweetened with? Artificial sweeteners? Honey? Fruit juice? I doubt Disney is hip enough to sweeten brownies with things such as dates!
Anyone with info please share! Thanks!

Usually artificial sweeteners has been my limited experience. I’m sure there are some exceptions.

I believe a lot of fruit juices and fruit concentrates are often used in no sugar added desserts. Of course some artificial sweeteners and sugar alcohols may be used as well. I looked at some no sugar added brownie recipes and they use things like coconut sugar and dark chocolate. Definitely do not think that no sugar added desserts have any less calories than their full sugar counterparts. They likely make up for it with fruit, chocolate, and oils.

It's usually artificial sweeteners, unless there are obvious fruits in the dessert and the sweetness could come from fruit purees. It does not mean sugar free. But, likely they use a lot of splenda or similar.

My guess would be artificial sweeteners. I’d be surprised if Disney uses organic honey, dates, etc. for sweeteners.

using dates or honey for sweeteners would still be "sugar added". they are sugars just like any other sugar and your body breaks them down into glucose just like they would any other sweetener.

"No sugar added" just means that they do not add any additional sugar to sweeten, but some of the native ingredients in the dish may have sugar. For example a fruit sorbet would have the natural sugars in the fruits but they would use artificial sweeteners to provide any additional sweetness beyond what the fruits provide.

It does NOT imply that they use less processed forms of sugar in it... that is still "sugar." It is basically what they used to call "sugar free" mostly geared toward diabetics, only they ran into trouble with that because some of the other ingredients have sugar in them beyond just the added sweeteners and can cause problems with insulin, so now they call it "no added sugar" instead as it is more accurate... but STILL it does not necessarily mean low glycemic or diabetic safe.
