No standard rooms avail. for Feb?

I just made reservations Friday for our family of 9 to go to Disney in Feb. Out of the 4 Value Resorts, only Pop Century had 2 standard rooms available for the first week of February. The other Value resorts only had preferred available. I have never had this happen before and I thought February would be a good month to go with low crowds. Does anyone know if anything is going on the week of 2/3/08 to 2/9/08 that would cause all the standard rooms to be booked??

It's probably due to Mardi Gras; I've read a lot of posts (especially under February Code Watchers) of people going for that reason.

that's funny, the last week of Feb had no prefer rooms in All stars. so we are thinking of changing to first week of march?

When is Easter next year? Isn't it earlier than usual?

Easter is 3/23/08 and I believe the cheerleaders go in March, but I could be wrong on that one. I bet it is Mardi Gras. I read on some other posts that the schools in LA are closed for a week during Mardi Gras which is 2/4/08 to 2/8/08. Those dates are when I will be there. Has anyone ever been at WDW during the Mardi Gras? Just wondering what the crowds will be like.

Cheerleaders and dance teams are there the first and second week in Feb.

I think that they mostly stay at the values. I would imagine that they book standard first, too. I would imagine that most resorts book the least expensive rooms first (I'm just guessing - anyone?).
