NO Standard 2BR available

I tried to make our reservations today for the week of Nov. 27 - Dec. 4. I was trying to get a 2 BR standard view. I was suprised to find out that we could not get a standard view as they were not available for everyday, only Nov. 27 was available. So we resereved a Boardwalk view instead.

Has anyone else tried to reserve rooms this week and had problems?

Standard view rooms at BWV almost always book up very quickly. This is especially true of the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas (which is one of the most popular times for DVC members to go to WDW).

Most who want standard views call day by day to be sure of getting their first choice of dates and room type. So owners have been calling day by day for those dates since the first moment the windows opened. Can't say I'm surprised that the standard view rooms are all gone, although I thought they might last a little longer than they apparently have. This is the first time that owners have been able to reserve a guaranteed Boardwalk view for this popular time and some of us are reserving a BW view instead of our usual standard view reservation. Looks like it didn't make much difference, though.

Anyway, sorry you weren't able to get a standard view - consider using the waitlist. There's still a lot of time for people to change their minds, so IMHO, you would have a reasonable chance of getting what you want.

You needed to call day by day starting 28 December to get that reservation. You can always wait list it though. I'd keep the BWV if it were I.

I started calling last Friday day by day for a check in 12/1 and check out 12/8 for standard view 2br. Tomorrow is the last day. I have called right at 9am everyday and had virtually no wait on the phone each time.

Based on what you say here - I sure am glad I took everyone's advice on the board and did it this way.

Two years ago, before I knew to call day by day, I called on Dec 11th to get one week in a preferred studio and could only get 5 days out of 7. The other two came in two weeks later. SO it's not just the standards - it's all of them!

Did you get on the wait list for the standard?

I've been doing the "day by day" for a boardwalk view, Dec 4 to 10. I've got through right at 9:00am all 3 days this week, no wait. All 3 days I got very nice cm's, and they all ended the call with "talk to you tomorrow!". Someone had mentioned recently that they were worried that calling day by day might make MS mad, I've found they couldn't be nicer about it. Monday's call was longer setting up the reservation but yesterday and today I was on and off in about 30 seconds. It must really be on my mind because last night I was dreaming about staying there, we were in the "Crest of the Wave" section!

I called day-by-day for our std view 2 bedroom from Nov. 23 - Dec. 3. I think there are alot of 'regulars' who visit Disney around the Thanksgiving holiday, thus they're able to make reservations at exactly 11 months out. For us it was a choice between std view and a longer stay or a Boardwalk view and a slightly shorter stay. This time the length won out but I'm looking forward to having a BW view one of these times.

I did not get on the waitlist for the standard. Points were really not a problem this trip as our use year starts in Dec. We just like the view of the fireworks at night.

We have never had a problem getting what we wanted, and this is the first time we had to make changes. I am just happy that their were 2BR available in BWV.

Next time I will have to call day by day.

I'll let you know my experience-maybe it will help you know "there is hope". BWV isn't my home, so I booked for early December at my home at 11 months. MS was nice enough at that time to check standard view studios at BWV-already filled! So when I called back at 7 mos to switch from home to BWV, I said "I want to be put on the waiting list for a standard view studio at BWV". The CM I talked with was rather confused at that-"But we have a standard view studio available!" Shocked, but delighted at my good furtune, I took it. Nice view too, I might add.

Always when dealing with Thanksgiving until Dec 20 - try (if you can) to make your reservations on a day byday basis now probably that last week (starting on the 19th) you want need them - but no one wants to be disappointed.

a few years ago I did something stupid - I brought my MVMCP tickets before I had my reservations at any DVC property - it was at the 6th more I was willing to take anything at any DVC resort - guess what - all were filled -completely - I got put on a waiting list - but panic got to me and make reservations at the Polyn - then I called about a month later - there was a cancellations and (if I haven't been silly) I could have that.

However it did serve a purpose - it was awonderful room - a lagoon view Tahiti building - great view of the castle at night - so fireworks were wonderful and you see the EWP right from your room....the whole time we were there - mother kept asking now "why aren't we staying at OKW" or "I sure do miss OKW" - so no more why don't we stay at a hotel our whole visit.....

We are going in June and when called a month back to make ressies we tried to get BWV standard --only 1 night we wanted was available so instead we booked all 5 nights in a 2 bdrm at our home resort-OKW. This week we got a call from ms that the 5 days we requested were now open. So we took it. Waitlisting for us has always been a good idea, we normally get a call for what we want.

I'm sooo glad I've been booking my Dec4 to Dec11 trip day by day for our 2bdrm standard view....i just hope when the time comes I get what is now my favorite room....fingers crossed...

Hi Debbie, I was in a 2 bedroom in November, and was in the "Crest o the wave" section, and the view is fantastic! The room numbers were 5003 & 5005, and the long walk from the elevators was well worth it.
