With all due respect, while I do understand your point, my thinking is that when shows are cancelled there is a reason why they can't be recorded. This could be due to weather, personal, family, or other issues. If they can't record, then I wouldn't expect them to be able to record something saying that.
Here's a scenario...let's say it is lightning out terribly and it definitely would not be safe to record. I wouldn't expect Pete to take any risks by recording something saying that weather conditions prohibit their recording. Another scenario...let's say some event took place that does leave them any time to record. If they do not have time to record, they wouldn't necessarily have time to record a message saying that.
I listen to a Twilight podcast every now and then. I never know when a show is going up and never know if one was supposed to be recorded, but wasn't. If I log onto iTunes and one pops up, I know that there's a new show. Otherwise, I realize that there isn't. I think that we are all a bit spoiled here by knowing when the crew records and when shows go up. I appreciate it none the less.
I guess that's where I am coming from with this show. If something comes up and they cannot record, I'll realize that when a show isn't up on iTunes. For me, I do not need a recorded announcement saying that they can't record this week. I'll just be patient and look forward to the next show.
As for the boards, I actually discovered this section of the DIS due to the show. I feel like they mention the boards at least once per discussion show, if not more. I'm glad that you have found your way here and are happy participating. It's definitely a very good place to be and a nice extension to the show.
