No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems: A Tremendously Tropical PTR

Woohoo for a new camera!!! :cool1:

You know I love photography and pictures too! :lovestruc I just have a Sony cyber-shot, but it takes pretty good pics. It's getting to be about 3 years old though and I have been thinking about getting something a bit newer. I'm not sure it will happen before the trip though.

Anyway -- Congrats!! :woohoo:

That's about how long I keep one too. The technology just changes so fast that they get outdated too quickly. The bad part about getting a new camera before a trip is that you don't have enough time to get used to the camera before you leave, especially for you since your trip is right around the corner! :woohoo:

Congrats on the new camera!! I love the pic of your puppy!!! It's the cutest chihuahua I've ever seen. Somehow I feel like we've talked about that before...

Anyway - when is your birthday? We don't want to miss an occasion to throw you a party!

Yes, I posted a picture of her on my last TR when DD picked out a mini sombrero for her in WS! I can tell you why she is cuter than the average chihuahua.... she is a long-haired breed. They are not as common as the short-haired ones (Taco Bell dog). The long-hairs are much cuter though b/c the hair hides how big their eyes and ears are! :rotfl:

I didn't mention my actual birthdate b/c I worry about any nutty person that might be reading! :rolleyes1 I am funny about giving out too much info, ya know. It's not all of you guys that I worry about. It's the ones who never post that I don't know anything about. I have that whole Marlin mentality remember (I am a major worrier!).

Congratulations on your new camera!! Most of my underwater pics didn't turn out nearly as nicely as those I had seen while doing my camera research either, I'm sure it's me too.....

:rotfl: Let me guess, you haven't read your manual either! :lmao:

I came very close to buying the Canon D10. They both had wonderful reviews. The only difference was that the Lumix was smaller (flatter) and I had been looking for a really compact camera for quite a while. I hope I made the right choice. :confused3 I think your pictures from the AKL pool were great though. Of course that has me second guessing myself now. See, I'm even indecisive AFTER I've made a decision! :sad2:

Your new camera is so cute!! I want a waterproof toy like that. :rolleyes1 I always seem to get the new camera bug when I'm planning a trip!

:cool1: for a new camera! I think the pics look pretty good, though...but what do I know?!! It seems like it was maybe a cloudy day? Try them again on a sunnier day. I don't read the manuals either and know my camera can do a lot more than I actually use it for.
Try looking it up on youtube. People like to make "tutorials" of things and maybe there's one on your camera that you could get some helpful tips from.

Your new camera is super adorable! I think the underwater pics turned out well, but I am no photography expert!

Happy Birthday (whenever it is ;))!

:lmao: Nope! I just started pushing buttons and hoped for the best!

:rotfl:

Me too! Although I can honestly say that I have been waiting for that camera for a long time, but the trip pushed me over the edge and I couldn't wait any longer!

It was a cloudy day, but the underwater ones were really foggy looking and the pool water was very clear. :confused3

Great idea about the youtube! I will have to check that out!

 Thank you for the mystery birthday wishes!

The pictures made the pool water look really cloudy though and it wasn't. It was really clear and clean. And the girls had a redish tint to them. I have no idea where that came from.

Congrates on the new camera. I love photography also, bought a new camera before our trip in 2009, a bridge with 18x zoom but I found it so cumbersome to carry around the parks althought I loved the pics from it. Last year I decided I wanted a small p&s so I bought one but like everyone have yet to read the manual completely and since it only has an 8x zoom I have been eyeing another one I saw but I doubt I buy it before October since it is $349 and after all I do not need another camera.

I use to have a SLR before they were digital and actually learned how to adjust the settings and was getting quite good at it when the do hicky thing a ma jig that winds the film broke, that was just around when the first digital SLR were hitting the market, I never did get it fixed just bought one of the first digital 1mp that hit the market.

I think you made a great choice getting a waterproof camera for this trip, its a shame they will not let you use it at the town pool.

I am glad you started me thinking about cameras again since I truely need to get the one I bought last year out and learn how to use it before October. Cameras these days have too too may features you need to learn to use.

Oh I forgot , I love your lil pooch she is adorable and I agree the cutiest Chihuahua I have ever seen too. Our dog is named Bella also :) but is a golden retriever

Ok ladies, I need some planning advise. I have an ADR for California Grill on one of our Epcot days. I booked it mainly for the fireworks view. We have a 7:30 ressie and the MNSSHP fireworks are at 8:00. I know it would be awesome to see them from up high like that and it is something I have always wanted to do.

I figured we would go there on this trip while I already had dressy clothes with us from the cruise (normally I would never have anything packed that I could wear somewhere like that). I have some hesitations though because it is 2 TS credits. I'm not sure it is worth it, and we are going to have 3 very similar "formal" type meals on the cruise, so I don't know if it's the best choice. I also don't know if I want the hassle of having to go back to our room and change into dressy clothes for dinner. We don't normally do that. Usually we just go straight from the parks to our reservations. I'm not a big fan of doing much traveling back and forth because it wastes too much time. I just have a feeling that I will be kicking myself if I cancel since it is somewhere I have always wanted to go, and I know the special fireworks will look spectacular from up there.

Opinions????

I went to California Grill in January and it was delicious food. I love Hallowishes and can imagine those fireworks would be AWESOME to see from California Grill. That being said....when I went a lot of people were not super dressed up. I saw many people in jeans and nothing was said to them. Maybe you could modify your dressy clothes and wear them into the park or maybe rent a locker just for that day and change into them over at the Contemporary? Just some options I am thinking of for you. I hate wasting time for traveling too but I guess that depends on where you stay. :rolleyes1

I know what you mean. My camera has more stuff on it than I will ever use. I used to have a Kodak and I loved that camera! It took great pictures and it was simple. It had just what I really needed and nothing else.

Yeah, you need to get to practicing on that camera. Nothing worse than trying to figure it all out while you are on vacation!

Oh I love goldies! They are so sweet! And Bella is a great name! :lmao:

First are you sure the fireworks duringt MNSSHP are scheduled for 8? I thought they were at 9:30pm.
I think it would be awesome to watch the fireworks from CG and I can totally relate about the clothing issue, that is my problem with going to signature restaurants too, I do not pack dressy items. We very often return to our resort in the afternoons though so it has never been a big issue if we want to change before going to say HDDR or Aloha dinner show etc.
Before we decided to go to the party I was considering maybe either watching HalloWishes from Poly beach , the 4th floor viewing area at CR or maybe going to FT Wilderness, eat at Trails end then watching the fireworks from there beach. Just throwing out soom options.....Maybe have dinner at 1900 Park Fare and watch the fireworks from the dock at GF? I also thought about booking the haunted carriage ride and then again watching the fireworks from FT Wilderness beach.

Really???? I had no idea that people would dress like that there. Jeans??? I can't imagine! Maybe DD and I could just wear some dressier capris to the park that day and then just take some Khakis for DH in our backpack. You gave me some great ideas though. I'll definitely have to give those options some thought. Thank you!

I'll have to go back and check the fireworks time, but that is what it said a few months ago when I wrote it down. :confused3

We are planning to watch the regular fireworks (Wishes) from the Poly beach on another night so I was trying to see the party ones in a different way, but we could do it from the GF or Ft. Wilderness. I'll have to think on that one. Thanks a bunch for the ideas!

I wouldn't wear jeans either but I think you are on the right track with the dressier capris and the kahakis for your husband. I wore black leggings and a long flowy top and I felt just fine. I was probably one of the more dressed up people too. If I remember correctly, Jen wore khakis when we went I think.

Cute new camera Rinky! :thumbsup2 I would love to have a waterproof one. Mine is about due for an upgrade anyway. The kids think it's theirs. I have more video on there of them filming our cat, dog, parakeets, lego men, Barbie dolls, stuffed animals, you name it, then anything else I have ever recorded. Ha! Crazy kids.

What's the dealio with no cameras at your pool? That's weird.

Yeah, I think that might work. I'm still going to think it over though b/c I'm not convinced it is the right choice since it is 2 TS credits and another "formal" meal.

Oooops! I made a boo boo! It's not Hallowishes that night after all. It's the regular fireworks. Just something else to think about.

:lmao: That's so funny! My DD is the same way. Every time I load pictures to my computer there are always pictures of her toys and her feet! :lmao: Kids! :cutie:

Yeah, that is crazy about the pool isn't it? I asked them to give me an explanation for such a strange rule and they just said that it was a liability issue b/c I could take pictures of other people in their swimsuits and post them on the internet or something. :confused3 I thought that was really, really odd. The way I feel about it is that if you don't want to show up in someone's pictures practically naked, then wear a bathing suit that covers your body! What's the difference in having someone look at you live and in person wearing almost nothing or having them look at you in pictures wearing almost nothing? I don't get it at all! I can guarantee them that there is no one at that pool that I WANT in my pictures! Most of the people out there could seriously use some lessons in modesty! :rolleyes2 I let them know that I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that they allowed women to wear thongs at a "family" pool, but I couldn't even take pictures of my own child!

Hmmmm. Honestly, I say if you are not 100% then skip it. 2 TS is pretty steep especially when you don't get appetizers with that. If apps were included than I would say go for it 100% but I'm iffy on it for you. Like you said, you are going to have a lot of formal meals on the cruise.

Cruise food....yummmy....I can't wait LOL!!!!!!! I am apparently very far behind....sorry about that LOL!!!

As far as CG goes, Leslie is right a lot of people weren't dressed up that night I wore black pants and nice shirt!!! It was a GREAT meal and I love watching the fireworks from there and will be doing it again in October...however that being said if you aren't 100% about it then you might want to wait and do it some other time. It's a hard decision to make that's for sure!!!

Ok going back to look when your dates are?!?! I cannot wait to pick your brain about the cruise!!!

Love the new camera. I didn't realize that it was your b-day gift. I rembmer a bit ago when you said you got it. I haven't used mine toom uch, but I like it so far. But after using an SLR mostly, I have a real hard time with point and shoots. LOL!
