Yesterday and today we decided to take it easy and just hang with the clown at Luna Park. Our MBS decided not to work so I went back up to the villa and brought down beers and micro pizzas on the cookie sheet.

LOL! You should have seen the looks! The guy at the table next to us asked where I had gotten it from. I almost felt bad for him.

Today same deal (again!) So fil and I went up and brought down a picnic. Complete with iced down beers in grocery bags, sandwiches and sides.

And people were wondering what I would do with all those groceries...HA!

What's your fav Disney hack? Do you make people jealous too? Let's hear some good ones :)

If we are hanging at the pool, I never understand why people dont have their own drinks (alcohol and non alcohol) and food? I always bring a colapsable cooler and use for pool days. Actually, one day I walked over to the lobby at GF (we were staying there) with wine and a cheese and cracker plate to people watch and enjoy the music lol

That sounds awesome!

Really dumb question- but are we in fact allowed to being our own food and adult drinks to the pool? They don't mind? Most resort pools won't allow in outside food and drink, but if the Disney ones or even just the DVC quiet pools do, that would save us a lot of time and money on upcoming trips! We've brought beer and wine in the mugs before and felt like we were being totally shifty, lol.

Several years ago we were relaxing at the BC quiet pool, when suddenly we were surrounded by a large family gathering. There must have been at least 25 family members enjoying the food and drinks they brought with them in large coolers. Before they came, we were the only people at that pool. We enjoyed the party atmosphere for a little while and then left them to party on.

A cooler would have been awesome. I think I'll need to be on the lookout for one that could fit in the suitcase!

No one said anything to us about it, nor have I ever seen a restriction on it. They let you bring food (not booze) into the parks, so why not the pool! Just don't bring glass! We go grocery shopping and get cans mostly but also cups.
The in laws were enjoying coffee with baileys and whiskey or something. We had gotten them insulated cups w/lids. :)

We had a laugh later in the week about the people who made a comment on the amount of groceries we were unloading at check in. We didn't have much left after a week with four adults and two kids!

Anytime we are at the pool for more than an hour we have a cooler with us with drinks and food.

DW usually makes a one pot meal:
Stew
Soup
Lasagna
As we usually stay in studios, these work out great for reheating in the microwave. We sometimes will eat breakfast out and then depending on what we are doing that day either lunch or dinner in the room every day.
We have taken these meals out to the pools. Have never had anyone questions us about bring the food nor gave us any funny looks.

In part to avoid the plastic shovels and pails that seem to come with every kid lunch at the QS locations at Vero and HHI (even when I ask that I not receive one) and the approx $8 cost - I will pop back to the room (sometimes in the time it takes to wait in the line) and make hot dogs for the kids, wrap them in paper towel and pop them into a Tupperware container that I bring with us.

They would not have grills near the quiet pools at DVC resorts if you were not allowed to use them.

We had a Disboard meet at BCV a few years ago, and it included a wonderful picnic using the grill at BCV. It's one of my favorite DVC memories!

Sounds like a great time! I've only used the grills at Hilton Head, but I really want to try the gas grills over at the poly or vgf. It just didn't make sense this time at bwv.

That why the say "Welcome Home". I thought the whole point of DVC was it was your home away from home.
Kitchens for cooking, refrigerators, so you can have your own food and drinks. Barbaque areas for grilling and picnics.

I love that we can bring or order groceries. And eat as many meals as we want in our Villas. We tend to do breakfast, snacks and some lunches. We eat dinner out. Except if we are there for over 5 nights, then maybe frozen pizza and salad in room one night. We find it relaxing, convenient and of course the savings.

I find it strange when people do not take advantage of the convenience of getting up in the morning and eating in their villa. Since, joining DVC a in 2010, we have never considered getting the Dining Plan. And loved that we can relax in our villa or at the pool with our own food and drinks.

My whole family loves steaks, so we go to Costco and buy 4 for around 50.00 ( almost the price of one in a TS restaurant ) and we grill them with some potatoes wrapped in foil by the BW quiet pool, enjoying some chilled beers or wine while the kids are in the pool or are in the community hall , you should see some people's faces when they see what's on the grill!
I also prepare some fresh guacamole and salsa in our room and take them by the pool with some chips and a cooler with some beers and wine, while the kids have their mugs ,people sometimes ask where we got the guacamole , lol :)
sometimes we also take with us from home some marinated fajitas that we freeze and put in our luggage and grill them the same way.
we will be there for the 4th of July (God willing ) and will do just that,
grill by the pool and later enjoy the fireworks and not drive at all :yay:

We don't utilize our kitchen much...just quick grab breakfasts. But I have brought my own drinks to the pool...a bottle of rum and the refillable mug (a little rum in the mug and then get diet coke put in). But I suspect, down the line when our 3 older kids are married with kids of their own, we will use the kitchen more.

We always bring our own drinks to the pool. We don't cook much in the room but have taken some snacks down to the pool. Last year we were there for DD's birthday which was a planned day to relax by the pool. I made a birthday cake in the room and brought it down to celebrate.

That's what I'm talking about! I would have been jealous of your steaks too! I wanted to grill, but we were flying so I didn't want to bother with charcoal or tools. Plus I thought my in laws would have really thought I lost it. :) They really like steak so maybe I could sell it that way. Speaking of steak, has anyone got something like Omaha steaks to deliver?
