So - I wanted to start a GoPro series for folks who use them in the parks!

What equipment do you use or notice you can bring into the parks?

I just bought these and I'm excited to use them!

I took one of these in August...

and it was fine. I was asked twice at bag check whether it extended or not but they were fine when the saw it wasn't.

I wore a wrist strap for the water rides at Typhoon Lagoon and no questions asked. In fact one CM asked if I had made sure my GoPro was switched on before sending me down a slide.

On a trip to an area amusement park this past weekend, I took my GoPro out for the first time. I wasn’t sure how they would handle me using it on rides, and I checked their policies before I left. Their website and park map stated that no photography is allowed on attractions, but I figured I’d check when I got there to see exactly what they meant. I was pleasantly surprised to be informed as we got in line for the log flume that in order to be able to record with my GoPro, it just needed to be secured in a five-point harness (which I did have with me!) and that I just needed to ask the ride operator for a Photography Release Card. I did this and after the ride supervisor signed my card, he told me that I just needed to show the card to the operators on ANY ride and I’d be good to go. This worked so well and I didn’t feel like a criminal, although the looks I got from other riders were entertaining. Does anyone know if Disney has or is thinking of implementing a similar policy? It would be nice to not have to worry about this on my trip in 38 days :o

I used the Steadicam Curve last week at WDW without a problem except for EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. The CM at Hollywood Studios didn't know what it was and called for assistance. The other CM took a look at it and asked how did it work and does it extend. After a brief demonstration I went into the park. At EPCOT the CM stopped me and asked if it was worth purchasing because he wanted one for his own use lol

How much was the steadicam curve? And where did you purchase it?

Disney does have this policy, but they don't require a card, they simply state in the rules that you are allowed to take photographs for your own use and if you want to use the photos professionally, you need to get their permission before taking them.

The rules also state that you must abide by any safety rules or cast member instructions, as there may be instances where photographs are not permitted due either to legal or safety constraints.

My wife bought me a gopro with a head mount for Christmas. Of course, I don't want to walk around with the gopro on my forehead, so I purchased the hand hold attachment, chest mount, and shoulder mount. I briefly tested them out. The hand hold and chest mount function good, but the shoulder mount (which I was most excited by) has a tilted image. I'm now trying to figure out how to level the gopro with the shoulder mount.
