No second fast pass after advance selection

I have been in Florida visiting my mom so we made a quick day trip to Disney yesterday. We had gotten two fast passes ahead of time, one for Tower of Terror and one for Rockin roller coaster as those were the only rides we were interested in, and we planned to ride them both several times. After we used those two fast passes, My Disney Experience would not allow us to get any more fast passes for those same rides, even though fast passes were available for them. The message I repeatedly received was that we could not get additional fast passes for attractions that we had obtained fast passes for in advance. Is this a new rule? I've certainly not read anything about it before, and it did not seem to be in play during our weeklong Disney vacation in October.

Because they were in the same park you had to have booked 3 before you could get more of the same ride.

What AngiTN said is correct. You have to use three fast passes before you can get a fourth FP for a ride you've already ridden. So you could do Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and Muppets. Then you could try to get another one for Rock N Roller Coaster. But you can't ride the same ride twice in your first three FPs.

And you couldn't have gotten a FP for say TSMM or F! (other Tier 1 attractions) until you used 3 FP

I think some people think they need to read the whole thread instead of just the first 10 posts.

Seems to be a pretty common phenomenon in all of the forums. Sometimes the exact answer is 3 posts away or in another thread as well.

i didn't either. but i will say it got answered quicker than reading the first few posts of the sticky like said. sometimes i read through the first few posts of stickies and miss the info i need also or i might not understand it correctly. i like to have the reassurance. makes me feel more confident. i don't know. . . just me.

Fwiw, for this specific question, I skimmed and apart from waiting for the link to open and skim again, it was super fast.

How do I book additional FastPasses?

Only 4th FPs (and beyond) can be chosen to repeat FP attractions. Scheduling less than 3 FPs for a day is not a shortcut to repeating an attraction with FP faster.
