No Saddam on tv today - what do you think?

They announced that he was going to make a speech and then he wasn't there. There was a speech - by one of his underlings (I don't remember which one, maybe Minister of Information), but no Saddam.

So, do you think it means he's dead or running away? And do you think his people are going to start doubting if he doesn't make an appearance soon?

I didn't see it, but read a report that Jihad was called for against the US.

That is kind of scary.

I'm sorry, but isn't that the one thousandeth Jihad called against us in the last year? Hard to get worked up over that anymore.

The guy's either:

a) Dead
b) Wounded bad enough that he's not fit for TV
c) Healthy, but acting very un-Saddam like

So far he's been shown on Iraqi TV two times since the first bombs dropped. The first one may have been live, but there was no evidence that it wasn't taped. The second appearence was definitely taped. There were "chop" edits in the tape during Saddam's address. He also made several curious remarks that didn't make sense... like praising the unit that had already surrendered.

And now this head scratcher. What's next... a still image with moving lips super-imposed a la "Clutch Cargo"?

A commentator pointed out that one of Saddam's personal body guards was present at one of the recent telecast - guarding someone else.....

I'm not sure what I actually believe; because I'm just hoping so much that he and his sons are GONE for good and won't pop up again like a bad horror movie . I really hope we can find PROOF either way.

IF he's still alive, he's probably paranoid that our satellites can GPS his broadcasting signal fast enough for one of our fighters to get him for sure...I do hope he is gone and that without him on TV and in the limelight that some ofthe Iraqi people may start to go "hmmm" and jump in and finish off the whole regime

Saddam wouldn't have to even make a live broadcast to prove he is alive. He could tape a broadcast and mention some things that have happened in the last day or two or even just show a newspaper from yesterday or something. I'm just starting to wonder about this myself...
