Last minute, spur of the moment, trip to Disneyland:cool1: Last time I was 5, just read the WDW veteran thread, so, we are ready. Except, that I don't know where to stay, the most reccomended hotels within walking distance are booked. I need help ASAP, leaving in 10 days...

:goodvibes

I just made reservations yesterday at the Best Western Stovalls Inn. It looked like it was close enough to walk- it looked like we would be walking in through the Downtown Disney side. Does anyone have experience with this hotel? I hope I did not make a mistake! Thanks!

Have you tried Desert Inn, and Suites, Fairfield Inn, or Best Western Park Place? I have been researching a lot lately, and those come up a lot.

The wife and I stayed at the Tropicana last year and are going again in July. Might give them a try.

I wouldn't walk from there, I am sure people do.... if I stay BW, I do Anaheim Inn

I would try Priceline (name your own price) and/or Hotwire. We got the Red Lion Inn (used to be the Radisson) on Priceline for our May 2010 stay. The hotel is within walking distance...just down the street from Candy Cane Inn.

My husband stayed at BW Stovalls once, while I was at Paradise Pier with my daughter and a friend on a Make a Wish trip. I booked it for him because it looked like it was close to there, and it was.

Personally, I did not like it. It was sort of dumpy, had a very loud A/C window type AC unit (which I thought was weird), and seemed sort of dampish inside the room, musty. DH did not mind it though.

Of Candy Cane or Park Vue I would pick Park Vue. I've heard great things, we are staying there next week. The location can not be beat. Candy Cane is pretty far, but they do have a dedicated shuttle, which is nice. Park Vue has a nicer breakfast, as well as water/cookies available all day long. They also have a light dinner in the evening.

We stayed at Stovall's last time. We liked it and would return for sure. Everything was new and clean, it was great. It was a bit of a walk, but it was a nice/enjoyable walk.

Ok, I was able to fina a room at the Best Western Park Place Inn and at Ramada Maingate, which is better?

a friend just got back, and she stayed at Ramada Inn Main Gate, and it was like a 5 min walk..I am going to stay at the Anahiem Plaza hotel, which is a 7 min walk to the park..mabye check them out...
Ramada Inn Main Gate
Anahiem Plaza Hotel
Hope it helps :cheer2:

Update: I decided to check again and got a room at Park Vue Inn, our first choice. Thank you all for your help and thank you Theresa for bringing me good luck ;)

I haven't stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn, I've only stayed at the Best Western Anaheim Inn, but the poster Hydroguy says that he ONLY stays at BWPPI... so there you go!

Regarding entering from Disneyland Drive:

Yes, you can walk from Stovall's... you will need to cross at West/Disneyland Drive and make sure you walk up the Grand CA/California Adventure side- the street itself dips UNDER the walkway of Downtown Disney, so no, you can't walk up the street and make a right into downtown disney and get into disneyland. Walk up West, and when you get just past the Paradise Pier hotel on your left, at that stop light cross the street. You then are going to detour thru the Grand Cal hotel- into downtown disney. There is an entrace directly from Grand California hotel into DCA, but it isn't available for entry except to hotel guests, though you can exit that way for a short cut back to your hotel.

Keep in mind that pedestrian entrance is only on Harbor. It may not seem like much further, but looping all the way around the park gets real tiring real fast. The Ramada Maingate is where my friends have stayed when they visit me. They just got a new pool too, according to their facebook
