NO rooms at discount??? Help! Please read..

I read on the other board that someone was quoted $55.00 w/taxes for the FL Resident/Ap rate last week and that the code would end 12/29 at midnight... well I called all last week and was told no rooms, no discounts, etc... called tonight and they do indeed have rooms, but no discounts... anyone know if they open rooms at different times or all at once... thing that makes me really mad is I called back again Monday (the 29th) in the morning and comps were down and they said they would call me back withen the day, never did... so now I have to pay the 87.oo a night or nothing at all on property! URGH! I could have had the discount if someone would have called me back, should I call and complain??

If you did I would call them back and speak to a supervisor and see if there is something that they can do for you.

In defense to the CRO...
From what I understand the computer resets cancelled reservations overnight. In addition, there are only a certain number of rooms per resort (usually 10% or so of rooms) that are available at any night with an AP or FL res discount ... So what may have reset may have been rooms with no discount.

I agree with Erica and try to get a hold of a supervisor, since you called on the 29th and they were supposed to get back with you.

I wouldn't bother. There's no guarantee that there would have been a discounted room available even if they had called you back.


Did WDW tell you the code was good until that date or did you just get your information from a message board? Mousesavers has a FL resident code listed that is valid until mid-Feb.

From my experience, the Florida Resident and AP rates do not have to be booked by a certain date like many of the codes for the general public do. So I doubt that booking ended on 12/29 for Florida resident/AP rates. I would call back and try again.

to help clarify and ease the pain, i believe no discounts were in effect at wdw from 12/26/03 until 01/01/04 and basically all rooms were booked except for 1 night stays on new years eve and those rooms were few and far between. that last week of the year is when disney gets the biggest bucks for their rooms. also, when discounted room only reservations cancel they normally are returned to full price category not discount rates. finally, some passholder and fl res offers do have expiration dates.

I don't know why I'm bothering with this, because people will just contradict me, so I probably won't anymore, people will find out what's really happening on their own I hope. But the current Florida resident code for 1/1- 2/11, BCD, does not have to be booked by any certain date. I think I've possibly heard of Florida resident codes in the newspaper and stuff that had to be booked by a certain date, but usually isn't the case anymore. And the passholder code for the same time period, BCE, also does not have to be booked by a certain date, and the passholder codes have never in my experience required booking by a certain date. I frequently use the passholder codes to make a reservation the same week I'm checking in. I think what happened here was that the code for the general public, which was something like BTN? I think? did have to be booked by 12/29.

The AP/FL resident rates are listed on Mousesavers and here on the Dis discounts page. Maybe they ran out or were unavailable for your specific date, 2angelsinheaven, but I really don't think the offer "expired".

Didn't mean to get everyone worked up was just ranting...
I called CRO tonight and asked for a room only ressie and they transfered me to the Disney help line and I got a gentleman by the name of Merqucio?? (sp?) but like in Romeo and Juliet and he helped me by ALSO looking up rooms at the DTD resorts... anyone here every stayed at the Grosvenor Resort how is it? Whats a good price? Better off spending 30 more a night here than at a discount motel (like Travelodge, etc). How are the standard rooms there? Thanks!

We stayed at the Grosvenor last September (after returning from a Disney Cruise) and I was very disappointed. We got a very good rate, but our room faced the garbage dumpster (can you say stinky) and the rooms were very old looking. They were clean just everything looked very dated. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room so getting the great rate was more important than a fancy room. Didn't even have time to check out the pool area or other amenities they offered. All that said, I probably would not stay there again unless I knew they had remodeled.

So would you say $69.00 a night was fair or over priced? We could do Microtel for $42.00 a night or Days Inn type hotel for $29.oo a night... I've stayed at the Microtel and other recently and both were very clean and decent priced... do you think 69.00 though is good rate for Grosvenor Resort? Worth the extra to be close, how are the buses?

(Personally I don't care about the room/hotel, we've been there done that... just have fiance's parents to put up and need a decent place at a value price)

$69 for the Grosvenor sounds fair. In my opinion it would be worth staying there over off-site, just because you could walk right across the street to Downtown Disney from there and do shopping or dining, and not even have to use a car or bus, which would be a big plus. The buses for the DTD resorts run on a schedule, like every half hour I think. I actually was pleased when I stayed at a DTD hotel, because I could time my exits from the park or hotel to coincide with a bus arriving within a few minutes, instead of just whenever with the Disney resort buses. So I think it would be worth it to stay at the Grosvenor instead of off-site, but it's up to you. If you have a car available, it may not matter to you either way, and just save even more by staying off-site....

What expired 12/29/2003 were the non-AP/Fla rates. I got these for my BIL/SIL since I couldn't book AP rates for them at a different resort than me. Not sure why they do these this way, but that's Disney, I guess.
