No reservations

We are a party of 6 with reservations from June 5-12. This reservation system is totally new to me and it looks like we will be sitting in our hotel room all week since there are not many park reservations available. I am tempted to cancel the entire trip and just forget it. What are the chance of actually getting into the parks?

You can still get reservations for those dates, you will just be limited to AK or EP as your first park for most of the week.

But a park hopper ticket will still get you into HS or MK after 2 PM as long as you visit your reserved park first.

All 4 parks are still showing availability for your last two days. I would definitely book HS and/or MK for those days.

There's always the possibility that availability opens up due to people canceling or slots being shifted from the AP bucket of reservations.

Disney is sure making a Disney World vacation stressful. And inconvenient. But the good news is you will actually get into the parks every day of your trip.

Make sure you have Park Hopper tickets and make your reservations today. Immediately.

Start with Saturday the 11th. Alternate Animal Kingdom and Epcot the 5th to the 10th. On those days you can hop to Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios after 2PM.

Yep, you have to adjust your traditional plans.

Unfortunately it is a bit late to get whatever park reservations you want for your dates. If you are not going to cancel, make the ones you can make right now. They could open some things up, so keep checking. Also, try to make reservations no matter what the park availability chart says. A park hopper would also enable you to visit all four parks.

And this is why we have not gone back to WDW since they implemented the park reservation/G+?ILL$, we did 1 trip and it was disappointing at best. What about going to US? We have found their resort hotels to be better and you are not forced to get up early and get on your cell to hope you hit the lotto and actually are able to snag a ride or 2, and then spend a lot of the day on your cell refreshing the app hoping to get other rides. WDW is pretty much forcing you to spend more $$$$ to get park hoppers so you can go to the park you originally wanted to go to but it was already booked.

If you're bound and determined to end up in Orlando from 6/5-12, this is the correct plan: go to Disney the last couple of days you can get reservations to what you want (or if you are happy with only having EP/AK, do those for 2 days, then MK/HS the 11th-12th) and spend rest of the time at Universal, going to their 2 parks and the waterpark.

You're just going to have to adjust the days you want to do things. While the park reservation system is newer, it has always been difficult to make last minute trips and to be able to do everything you want in the order that you want (hotels, restaurant reservations, etc.) Summer is busy. The entire past year has been busy and I expect with many schools out in early June, it's only going to be busier.

It's up to you. If it's going to make you miserable, postpone the trip and reschedule for a time when you get the park reservations and everything else that you want to do in advance.

We have been going for most of the last 18 years and it has never been this difficult to do a last minute trip, until the park reservation system came into play. We had did a bunch of last minute trips, including a couple that was taken with only a weeks notice, and never have been blocked out of a park (holiday weeks are the exception). While we were at WDW, there were times we decided to switch the park that we wanted to go to that morning before leaving our resort without any issues.

The challenge of getting last minute park reservations has been a challenge on and off since they were introduced. It's disappointing but we've heard park reservations are here to stay so it will be a new part of planning a Disney trip.

I can't remember how things are with WDW but I know with the DL trip I have booked, each time I place or change my reservation I receive an email with a highlighted box clearly indicating that park reservations are required.

I agree with you. It's always been difficult "to make last minute trips and to be able to do everything you want in the order that you want (hotels, restaurant reservations, etc.)."

But now even getting into a park short notice is beyond difficult. It's often impossible.

DW and I would often spontaneously find a great rate on a resort and fly down with just a couple of days' planning. That's now impossible. APs gave us great flexibility. No more.

DW and I would often wake up and head for the resort bus stop, agreeing to take whichever park bus showed up next. We miss that spontaneity.

I agree, it was possible
But it is not any more
If you want to visit Disney you have 1 option, find reservations to use and work them to your advantage. There is no other option. You can’t go without them. You can‘t tour the way you used to. Not usually at least. It’s rare to find a string of days with openings in all 4 parks for all days that morning. If you do, then yeah, you can make changes that day. What you can’t do is count on that
You can choose not to go of course.

Good luck. I would grab the park reservations that you can and then try and modify.
As others have said, without a park reservation, you will not be let into the parks.
Keep checking as it does seem that they either recycle cancelled park reservations or add to the pool periodically.

This also helps WDW squeeze even more $$ from us, because if you purchase the park hopper, then you can go to a "blocked" park after 2PM as long as you go to the park that you have a Park Reservation at first. :sad2:

Certainly. They’ve thought it through without a doubt. There’s nothing good about reservations. Nothing. At. All.

The frustrating thing about threads complaining about park reservations:

1) When the parks are overcrowded, we see a lot more complaints about how terrible things are at the parks.

2) Imagine how much more crowded the parks would be if park reservations didn't exist.
No more crowded than before Covid
