No reservations

Sold out is not equal to park capacity.
Yeah I don't think many people truly think this although I can see why someone may think that. They def. limit and play around with the numbers. Someone shouldn't be looking at reservations for thinking that park will be massively crowded and I know a lot of tried to alleviate people's fears on that when they posted "omg no more reservations is it going to be bad". The previews caused a lot of dates for Epcot to be shown as not available (at least at some point in time). But having been there on the 9th, 10th, and 14th (and a small portion of the 13th) it was not all that crowded.

^^^ THIS we aren't even booked yet, but I've done tons of research and also plugged in various dates and resorts to price compare and it's made abundtly clear well before you confirm anything that you need to check availability and make theme park reservations. Disney has been very clear on that. Not knowing you need a reservation or not making one on time is 100% on the customer... I do think Disney gets a lot wrong lately but making people aware of the necessity to make TPR's is not one of them.
I’ve wondered how anyone could book/buy tickets any be unaware myself. But, I am also aware how little some people read what is right in front of them. I send out notices to our employees and they ignore as many as they read

There are almost daily posts here asking ”X park is unavailable for my date. Does that mean I won’t be able to hop due to it being at capacity?” So not sure about what people think

If you say so, I disagree on both after visiting on many sold out days

And nope, no contradiction. Guess just over your head in explaining
I’m relating personal experience attending parks starting with AP preview days pre covid reopening through today, covering every holiday since, along with a lot of non holiday trips
The sold out Guardians AP Preview days at Epcot were outliers. A lot of the day's capacity went to people who were only in the park for a couple of hours.

It's not over my head, but if you're insulting me, it must mean that I'm mistaken. Point taken, I guess.

No insult intended
You confused me with someone else discussing Epcot and preview days
i never mentioned them

Someone else mentioned them, I thought you were also mentioning them:

"AP preview days pre covid reopening through today" is not the most graceful of phrases. I thought you somehow trying to compare Galaxy's Edge or Pandora AP previews to Guardians AP previews, which obviously made no sense.

But, wait, you "disagree on both", including this? (I'm trying to figure out what "disagree on both" means.)
But, again, I don't blame Disney for using the park reservation system to keep lines and experiences more manageable, which is in and of itself a major benefit of the park reservation system.
You don't think they're using the park reservation system to keep lines and experiences more manageable? Or you don't see that as a benefit?

Also - when I say that it "tells me the parks are busy" - I mean that in the general sense, as far as "busy periods", not that a specific park will necessarily be busy on a day that it's sold out. If I'm deciding between weeks, and I notice that one of them has more "sell outs" than the other, then I pick the latter.

I agree with everyone else - there isn't a direct correlation between "sold out" and "busy park" - for example, I was there a couple of days before Christmas last year, and walked into a deserted MK that afternoon. (Because of rain. It was slammed that night, however.)

It simply doesn’t matter at this point
the horse is dead

IMHO one of the big reasons the park reservations are full from June 5th to the 11th is Disney is hosting the Special Olympic National Games on those dates. That is one reason we will be there during that time. I was able to get most of my park reservations early.

THIS! I booked a room-only for 5/15 and before I even got to the payment screen there was a pop-up stating that you have to have a reservation to enter one of the parks and gives you the option to check availability or continue.

Keep checking. People cancel. We had that issue last night with a guest arriving and first day today. My DIL kept stalking and the park they wanted opened up for our guest and all is good in the world. Don't give up!

We are a party of 6 with reservations from June 5-12. This reservation system is totally new to me and it looks like we will be sitting in our hotel room all week since there are not many park reservations available. I am tempted to cancel the entire trip and just forget it. What are the chance of actually getting into the parks?
In September you stated that you new about the reservation system and were wondering if different people in your group could reserve different parks. Is this about the same trip you were discussing in September? Or a completely new spontaneous one?
