Remember my trip report about OKW? (I was upset about our studio.)

Anyway, I did get a nice email back from MS telling me they did go into my next OKW reservation for spring break and add that I wanted a studio with a tub for my kids. (I was worried we'd get another handicapped accessible studio with no tub.) and that I wanted nonsmoking due to medical reasons (My oldest has asthma.). Today I did receive a new copy of the reservation with these requests on them.

In the email MS mentioned they were sending my concerns over to Member Satisfaction. I had mentioned my desire to see nonsmoking and non handicap accessible studios as guaranteed requests and if they are no longer available when you book then you know going into your trip. (I also had a few other minor issues.)

I haven't heard back. I really feel like these are reasonable requests, even more so if you are booking eleven months out at your home resort. Thoughts?

Anyway, I'm just updating since I mentioned on the board that I would be contacting MS.

Personally, as much as I hate getting "stuck" with a smoking room...I do understand the policy of it not being "guaranteed".

Each resort has a finite number of rooms. If that resort is fully booked, at say 98%, and a room goes out of service for an unexpected problem...then what would happen? Do they deny the member a room because non-HA or non-smoking was guaranteed? Do they take someone that has reserved a non-HA room and put them up at the GF (at the expense of all the other members through our dues)? I do realize that many other resorts do "guarantee" such things, but they do not have the occupany levels of most DVC resorts.

If a "tub" is especially important to you, you can always book a 1 bedroom or larger unit...all of them have a jacuzzi tub that the kids could bathe in if the stall shower happened to be a roll-in type.

Also, specifically request a non-HA unit...even if they are not guaranteed at time of booking, a specific request should have a little priority over a "blank" request list.

Shan - they will call but it takes a few weeks.

I know I'm sounding like a complainer, but really I just want to voice my opinion. How will they know how I feel unless I let them know?

I personally don't like the room ready policy and I wish priorities were given again to those who book ahead of time, especially at eleven months out at your home resort.

I mean you book at your home eleven months to the day, check in an hour later than somebody who booked at their non home resort just a month ago and they get the better room?

My recent concerns about nonsmoking and non handicap studios just made me take action.

Chuck, I wish I had points to book one bedrooms each trip, but right now I don't. My kids are young enough right now that a tub in the studio is important to me. It could make for a long week if we didn't have one.

Kathleena, nice pic in your sig! :)

I definitely agree with these becoming guarantee requests. I hope you hear back from them.
