I don't have a Real ID, but it's not for the lack of trying. My license was up for renewal this past spring and I thought I'd go ahead and get it. I just had one little problem.... I couldn't find my birth certificate or passport. Every other family birth certificate is in it's file... just not mine. So, apparently, I've used them for something and put them somewhere else for safe keeping and I've yet to find that spot. 
Anyway, I went through the process to get another birth certificate and paid the fees. However, the state of Alabama apparently can't find my birth certificate either!
Thankfully, I do have a DoD ID (military) which gets me through airport security. Once I find my documents, I'll update my ID.
