We have rented a van for our stay here at Fort Wilderness. We checked in this afternoon and left our air conditioning on while we went to dinner. Just got back and have no power. We are not experienced campers. Everything looks to be plugged in ok. Any ideas what it might be.

I'm not clear on what exactly was left plugged in and where. You're living in a van? Do you mean the van's A/C? Or are you living in a tent and you mean a separate A/C machine that runs in your tent?

At any rate, call the front desk at Fort Wilderness (or whatever phone number you have for them). They will send someone out to help you. I had an electrical issue & someone promptly came out to help me, in the middle of the night, during our camping trip 2 years ago. Call them.

Check the breakers first, then as Shanti suggested call the front desk.

The breaker on the Power Post is my first thought. When we were there in a few weeks ago, it seems our AC never stopped. Plus the Fridge, The Hot water heater, lights, Golf Cart charger, etc... It really did "Tax" the amperage ratings. I had to reset the breaker a couple of times in the "Peak" of the heat. I did eventually take the golf cart charger off the outlet on the side of the RV and get an extension cord and plugged it directly into the power post. I also shut the hot water heater off. (I had left it on because ours was Gas or Electric, and, well.... It's nice to have hot water when you need it instead of remembering to turn it on 20 minutes before you need it. :) )

When you arrive, and plugged in your unit, you needed to flip the switch...either 30 or 50 amp. We are "almost" newbies..and we didn't know this a year ago.

We were at the Fort about 5 months ago....we did have to call the front desk..they had to switch out the unit ?????

Our motorhome requires 50amps, and it the power at Fort was only working for 30amps...something was wrong.

This is one reason I always carry the adapters to be able to convert from 30 to 50 amp. If you run 50 amp converting to 30 doesn't give you enough power for everything, but you can at least run the fridge and one of the A/C units if you have multiples.
