I have been on these boards almost everyday and I check the menus regularly on ALLEARS. I have not seen anything until I read a review of Ohana and the OP said the new noodles were good. Another poster responed that she hoped the potatoes would be back by her trip. PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE NOT TAKEN THE POTATOES OFF THE MENU AT OHANA!. I have brushed all the other menu changes off. However, I will be truly upset as this side-dish from heaven is one of the only things I am looking forward to eating next month.

Sorry but they are gone:headache:
You can get the recipe on all ears though!

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: Yes I have made them before with the recipe but they are never the same.

Is this a recent change? Its still showing up on the menu on allearsnet.com.

AllEarsNet is not affiliated with Disney. These are menu's sent to the webmaster by visitors such as ourselves. Though it is run by great people that do their best to keep it as up to date as possible. Disney does not post menu's of it's restaurants on any sites and all menu's are subject to change at a moment's notice.

By they way, what is so Polynesian about cheese and potatoes anyway?

It changed a few months ago, I think it was in March or April. There were many threads about it when it hapened.

Nothing. They would be fine in South American or European cuisine restaurant but represent mainstreaming a restaurant to have greater appeal for dining plan patrons vs ethnic cuisine dining.

I thought I read recently that the noodles were gone and potatoes were back. Maybe I'm wrong

The All Ears menu says the potatoes are back, but they aren't. :confused3

The All Ears menu said the potatoes were back last month, but when I ate there, it was noodles. (Which were yummy and fit in better with the rest of the menu). There have been no reports of potato sightings yet.

I have seen the posts regarding that the change was supposed to be made and that all ears updated the menu in July. However the most recent reviews of Ohana including one from 8-16-08, the OP said that there were noodles not potatoes. All I can do is hope that they change back by 9-16-08. But at least now I know and will not be surprised.

On 8-8-08 I can report there were no potatoes, but the noodles were good!

As was the banana bread pudding...MMmmmmmm! :teeth:

I love the potatoes and will miss them. We are heading there this November. What do the noodles taste like?

Linda

I think someone should call 'Ohana and find out the deal with the potatoes! I would LOVE for the potatoes to come back!:goodvibes

Edited to add: I remembered that I had an email contact at 'Ohana back from June. I emailed him to inquire about the potatoes - I'll keep everyone updated!

Wow for quick email response time!

The news is not good... it appears the potatoes are gone for good. It has to do with Disney's transition to all trans fat-free foods.

:sad1: So sad...

Okay - so tell me about these noodles... If this is what I must live with at least the reports are that they are yummy!

I'm sure that there is nothing "Polynesian" about those potatoes, they were just very good!!

I haven't had the noodles yet, but the pictures I have seen remind me
of the noodles I get at the Chinese restaurant! :confused3

They called them "vegetable lo mein" but they really didn't have much more than noodles in them and some chives (I think that's what they were)...they tasted like asian noodles maybe with a slight peanut sauce flavor. Good texture (not too firm and not too soft) and the seasoning wasn't heavy...it was just about right.

We had the noodles about 10 days ago, and we all liked them. Though we were potato fans, I think the noodles are better. And overall, the changes were positive. The shrimp and potstickers were huge hits with us, and I loved the dipping sauce for the turkey.

I am so confused ... didn't multiple posters independently report that various 'Ohana CMs told them the potatoes were returning? This was mid-summer. I wonder why they changed their minds? I think the trans-fat content is the catchall excuse when they don't want to explain further and there was some truth at the time to them returning (and, if so, they must have figured out a better fats solution). Noodles are probably cheaper, those potatoes have a heckuva lotta cheese!
