AS a person who uses an ECV I found it difficult to get thorugh the gates as they close automatically. Will they be providing assistance with the gated pools. I got locked in the one at Carribbean beach for about an hour one night trying to get the gate open and through before it shut again. I hate to see this as it ruins the theming of the pool areas. I know there are safety issues but honestly parents should keep control of their children and not let them run wild.

Okay that's my rant for the day. Not looking forward to our AoA stay in July as we want to spend alot of time in the pool with my granddaughter.

Based on reports of the new changes coming to the Polynesian, not even discussing the DVC possibility, they are fencing both of their pools during the upcoming rehabs to the resort.

I expect GF to be taken off the list too when DVC opens and I figure we will see that pool fenced too.

Which brings up the guestion: as more and more pools are denied; is it fair to leave the others open for pool hopping such as OKW, SSR, VWL and BWV.

I personally don't think it is.

The pool hopping situation, not talking about DVC, but those that just crash the pool without staying there, has gotten worse and worse.

The Polynesian and WL pools probably being the worse and BW.

With Disney going more and more to RFID keys, I figure all the deluxe and DVC pools will be gated in the future.

I totally agree with Sammie, and I for one would not mind at all if pool hopping was abolished. I think resort pools should only be for guests of that resort. I agree that the OKW pools are invaded by locals all the time. It's hard though to gate all 4 pools there.

Members can pool hop to Vero Beach which needs a KTTW card to access the pool. If they choose to make the 2 hour drive, the front desk gives you a KTTW card to access the pool.

First of all, fences around the pool don't necessarily need to be fences. Many residential areas need to have fences of a certain size or material, but Disney clearly doesn't need those or they'd have them already. So, a 4' tall line of shrubs could easily deter people. Sure, some crashers might try to crawl through or over something like that, but it sure would be obvious to security, lifeguards, and other paying guests.

Secondly, all guests will soon have RFID tags, which present a wealth of security options. RFID tags are exactly what stores use to track their inventory. Every time you see those sensors making a big racket at the entrance to any store, it's an RFID tag setting off the security system.

If all guests are going to eventually have an RFID tag on them, surely there's a way to track who's going in & out of the pool area with the tags on. Disney guests are going to get used to swiping their wrists for park entry, purchases, fastpasses, etc. It won't be a stretch (literally) to get people to swipe their wrist against a console at the pool gate. Instead of an annoying alarm for the "bad guys", they could have a green light & a more pleasant chirp for the "good guys" who have tags. Those who don't set off the system, or who don't have the bands on at all, will clearly stand out. Pool crashers will obviously not pass.

Such a system would probably be more reliable and cheaper to operate than an actual locking gate, and can't be "tailgated" like a real gate can.

We were staying at BCV and last night at BLT...we pool hopped over to BWV to let the DGS go down the clown slide (loved it can still hear his WOOOOO as he went down the slide--he's 3-3/4). Then one night we went to Caribbean Beach to let him play in the splash area...what a great time he had! We meant to get over to the GF pool as we assume it will close when the DVC opens, but never made it there. The gate was mostly open at BLT pool except by the bathrooms..I made it a habit to make sure it was closed securely behind us when coming and going.
