I thought y'all might enjoy this story. I went to Epcot yesterday. Both my daughter-in-law and my son have free parking there since they are in the hospitality industry. We were in 2 cars, one behind the other. My D-I-L was going to use her card for parking since she was driving the first car and my son gave me his card to use for my parking. At the parking gate, they told the attendant that we were together and that is why I had my son's card. He was willing to jump in my car if needed so I could use it but his back was hurting and he didn't want to change cars unless it was necessary. So we just decided to see if the parking attendant would understand. She started yelling at my D-I-L and son and threatened to take both of their cards away for "cheating." My son said he was perfectly willing to ride in my car so we could use his card but she decided to lecture him instead. She did let them through and then when i drove up to her. She decided to lecture me. I know that technically my son should have been in the car with me to use his card but it wasn't like he just gave it to me and sent me to the park without him. Normally, he would have ridden in the car with me but his back was really hurting and he didn't want to change cars unless he had to. Common sense would have told the attendant that we were together and that we were willing to comply if she needed us to. So our day didn't start out very magical. But that part was no big deal, because she was just doing her job albeit with a bit of an attitude.
So the point of my story after the parking lot sidetrack:
We went to Ice Station Cool and we were having great fun acting like the "Beverly" drink was the best drink to try. For those who haven't been, they give free samples of Coke products around the world and the Beverly is from Italy and tastes really bitter. So this teenager come up to sample the drinks and I suggest the Beverly. Then this other park guest walks up to me and says in a grumpy voice, "That's not very MAGICAL!"
I am laughing and thinking that she was just kidding. So I said, "Oh I forgot to bring my pixie dust today."
She then says, "Trying to encourage a complete stranger to try that drink is just plain mean. Maybe you should have gone to Universal today instead since you are obviously rude. That's where you belong."
Now this lady did not know me or even know that I liked Universal. She was just one of many people who paint Universal in a negative light. So I said, "You know, Universal has plenty of magic also. If you want to talk about magic, you should have seen the attitude that the cast member gave me in the parking lot today." She then turned and walked off to tattle on me to the cast members in Ice Station Cool.
None of the CMs said anything to me. It wasn't like I was trying to get the kid to drink poison. They do offer the Beverly as a drink there. It is a common joke to play on others. I was tricked by a stranger the first time I ever went too and found it hillarious. I laughed about it with the stranger who tricked me into trying it.
I just like to stand with a cup, and then fill it with the Beverly and pretend to taste it, exclaiming how great it tastes. And then saying, "You've got to try this" to whomever is near me. I think it's funny and also thought it was funny when I was tricked the first time. Maybe it's true....I'm just a rude person who belongs at Universal.
