I thought y'all might enjoy this story. I went to Epcot yesterday. Both my daughter-in-law and my son have free parking there since they are in the hospitality industry. We were in 2 cars, one behind the other. My D-I-L was going to use her card for parking since she was driving the first car and my son gave me his card to use for my parking. At the parking gate, they told the attendant that we were together and that is why I had my son's card. He was willing to jump in my car if needed so I could use it but his back was hurting and he didn't want to change cars unless it was necessary. So we just decided to see if the parking attendant would understand. She started yelling at my D-I-L and son and threatened to take both of their cards away for "cheating." My son said he was perfectly willing to ride in my car so we could use his card but she decided to lecture him instead. She did let them through and then when i drove up to her. She decided to lecture me. I know that technically my son should have been in the car with me to use his card but it wasn't like he just gave it to me and sent me to the park without him. Normally, he would have ridden in the car with me but his back was really hurting and he didn't want to change cars unless he had to. Common sense would have told the attendant that we were together and that we were willing to comply if she needed us to. So our day didn't start out very magical. But that part was no big deal, because she was just doing her job albeit with a bit of an attitude.

So the point of my story after the parking lot sidetrack:

We went to Ice Station Cool and we were having great fun acting like the "Beverly" drink was the best drink to try. For those who haven't been, they give free samples of Coke products around the world and the Beverly is from Italy and tastes really bitter. So this teenager come up to sample the drinks and I suggest the Beverly. Then this other park guest walks up to me and says in a grumpy voice, "That's not very MAGICAL!"

I am laughing and thinking that she was just kidding. So I said, "Oh I forgot to bring my pixie dust today."

She then says, "Trying to encourage a complete stranger to try that drink is just plain mean. Maybe you should have gone to Universal today instead since you are obviously rude. That's where you belong."

Now this lady did not know me or even know that I liked Universal. She was just one of many people who paint Universal in a negative light. So I said, "You know, Universal has plenty of magic also. If you want to talk about magic, you should have seen the attitude that the cast member gave me in the parking lot today." She then turned and walked off to tattle on me to the cast members in Ice Station Cool.

None of the CMs said anything to me. It wasn't like I was trying to get the kid to drink poison. They do offer the Beverly as a drink there. It is a common joke to play on others. I was tricked by a stranger the first time I ever went too and found it hillarious. I laughed about it with the stranger who tricked me into trying it.

I just like to stand with a cup, and then fill it with the Beverly and pretend to taste it, exclaiming how great it tastes. And then saying, "You've got to try this" to whomever is near me. I think it's funny and also thought it was funny when I was tricked the first time. Maybe it's true....I'm just a rude person who belongs at Universal.

Haha, cute story! Wondered how it was going to relate to Universal! It will be even funnier if that lady reads it here!

I thought I might see a thread about me posted on the Disneyworld forums by the lady. :rotfl2:

All i can say is how much it would suck to spend the day walking around Epcot when i can't even get out of a car without being in pain.

My car is very small and my son is 6'3". Bending so far down just to sit down into the seat and then scruntching up his legs once he is in my car hurts. He has a slipped disk that sometimes acts up. Once he is standing he is OK, not painfree but OK. Sitting and getting up hurts. We only stayed a few hours anyway. We thought we might have to rent a wheelchair for him but once he stretched out and walked, he did better.

I have done this with friends, then snickered at their demise. Or we'd do the Beverly drink as a "shot", then have a better tasting one.

It's pretty interesting that the lady decided to chastize you for your harmless prank, instead of Disney who makes that nasty stuff available to sample. In fact, one could argue that Disney is pulling the ultimate prank by having that drink available. Who hasn't sampled all flavors when visiting Ice Station Cool? I know I have.

Trying to get newbies to try the Italy drink is the single best part of the Cool Place. That lady was an uppity grump! :thumbsup2

It doesnt matter where it's at....even at the "happiest place on earth", people are willing more than ever to just be petty. Its kinda sad......half of the threads here are the same way. If you post opinion "x"....there are tons of people who cant wait to give you opinion "y". Its not you, its others.....no worries.....and keep having fun at the DIS!!!

I actually did have a great time. I just found it humorous that she thought that I should go to Universal where everyone is rude. It seems I am the red-headed stepchild even at Epcot. ;)

LOL. I love the black and white worldview some people have. Universal is mean people and Disney is nice people. What a simpleton.

Some people have no sense of humour, as i thought this was funny.
Maybe just keep going to Universal-where all the rude people go:rotfl2:

Just to say, in 6 years have never encountered any rude TM, maybe a few visitors [but not many] at universal:thumbsup2

At least you had a good few hours at Disney

I find busy-bodies like that super annoying. Gee, I thought the whole purpose of the Beverly drink was to trick your friends and strangers alike! LOL.

Bingo!

Phamton, you should have told her that at least Uni has better sense than to serve that poison!

Phamton,you bieng mean too kids???:lmao:

I just love the stereo-typing people have about Universal. It is so sad they go thru life with mickey eye shutters on.If they ever take them off, there is a whole place called ORLANDO and Universal and SeaWorld do reside there, not just the mouse..

That woman at the entrance must have had a horrible day. As you said, you weren't cheating anyone. You did not go to the park without him, he was just more comfy in a different car. I can understand that perfectly. As far as the nut job in the Cool Station.. she must be a busy body and not know how to keep her nose out of others business, no matter where she is. As far as pranking with Beverly, many people do that.. I have even had CM's ask have I tried the delicious tasting Beverly.. it is a standard joke there.

Some just don't know where their place is in life, so they think they can enter yours in a negative way.. talk about Pixie Dust, you encountered Pixie Crust ;)

Me thinks someone was needing to take their own advice because unless I am missing something, that isn't a very "Magical" thing to say and is "obviously rude" in and of itself. That statement alone might be worth a whole weeks stay at Universal because that type of talk/comment "just doesn't belong" at Disney. ;)

from one red headed step child to another, you wear your tag well.
