Left Travelodge at 7.30am after breakfast, dropped off car and took shuttle to terminal 3.
Did bag drop at Virgin desk and asked about our space available upgrade, which was applied to our booking because of a compensation claim with Virgin 5 years ago. Was told that we had been upgraded to Premium inseats 37 and 36 A and C. We were over the moon with this. After going quickly through passport control we all played a game of spotting Olympic Tracksuits and from what country they were from.
Perfume for the ladies in Duty free and when in the que to pay had a brief chat with a competitor from Uzbekistan, who had won a bronze in Judo. Very nice chap who was very proud of his achievement.
On our way to the gate Amy turns and says to me 'thats Jeremy Clarkson'!. Sure enough it is and he then proceeds in front of us and is actually on our flight. I have to say that my opinion of Jeremy has gone down though because a young boy. about 8 years old asked him for his autograph and he refused!!
Flight departed on time and was fantastic. Service was excellent and V port brilliant. Have to say that Premium was much better than economy, but for me could not justify the money if paying.
Took us 45 minutes to get through passport control and then another hour and 15 to collect bags, nightmare. Just to note that Jeremy also had to wait and was very agitated. As they say, what goes around comes around!!
So about 2 hours from landing to exit at Miami, but hay ho were in Florida.
Came out of the terminal and system is you flag down your hotel courtesy bus, which arrived immediately. The driver welcomed us to Miami and offered us ice cold water. Nice touch and very welcome. Embassy suites were 5 minutes away and check in was a breeze. Room is huge, seperate sitting and dining area. Went to free managers reception party, beer, margeritas and various cocktails also popcorn and pretzels. We then ordered chinese, delivered to our room. Stayed awake until 10pm then sleep!!
Tomorrow drive to Orlando!!
