This trip will be 8 nights 9 days. We purchased 7 day hoppers.

Our last day we tend to get a flight out around 5pm and do Downtown Disney in the late morning early afternoon before the flight.

We plan on arriving our 1st day around 12-1pm at the airport. I have been debating whether to check in and then get on a bus to MK for the rest of the day and then take a rest day during the middle of the week instead.

We normally just rest and do Chef Mickey's the first night and then go to the parks everyday but since we are arriving fairly early and will be there for 9 days, I feel that a rest day in the middle might be better. We are going Tues thru Wed so I was thinking Saturday could be the rest day and maybe we will sleep in, swim and then do Hoop-Dee-Doo.

What would you do??

We've done this either way, many times.

I'd say "No pereference."

(Other than you will lose a LOT of time by getting to a park in the PM when its already BUSY.)

We really like to book the Hoop on the first evening.
Nice to settle in, relax a bit (FtW or Wilderness Lodge is great for this... so is Boardwalk) and still have "the whole trip" ahead of us.

OR-

We jump right in and "start the Disney Magic" an hour or two after "wheels down" at the airport.

Again... we like BOTH ways.

As it will probably take a little time to get from the airport to your hotel (not sure if you are renting a car or taking ME), I's probably chill out at the hotel, maybe hit DTD, then hit the hay to get an early start the next morning.

I'm planning on arriving mid-morning on my upcoming trip, so I should be at my hotel by around noon. This way I can check-in, unpack, grab a light lunch and off to EPCOT for the Candlelight Processional.

"Instant check-in"...
Sometimes works, sometimes not, due to the "official check-in time of 3:00pm.

If our room is not "ready" we pick up our room keys at check-in desk, take what items we need with us and depart to WDW FUN... and leave the bags with the bell capt. so they can be delivered and placed inside our room when it IS ready.

If using DME, we make SURE that any items we will need when we arrive are in our carry-ons, as most baggage travels on a different coach or truck from the airport than YOU do.
Then, when it arrives at your resort, it is delivered and placed inside your room.

It depends on what time you get in on arrival day, but you will probably need a break by the middle of the week... so my vote is take a day in the middle of the week to spend relaxing by the pool. :sunny:

I agree..it almost really dosen't matter. I would choose >arrive12-1 pm at airport, take ME to hotel, check in 2-3, I think I would do 1900 PArk fare or CM and have a relaxing dinner, and take the monorail around the loop Hopefully you will be able to catch wishes and the water parade (from the dock at GF so you can hear the music). The other option is check in, do a meal at Spoodles or the Yatch Club and then catch an Illuminations cruise(you do not loose a park day doing the cruise-since you do not enter the park-if you need to keep expenses down maybe you can share a boat)

If one of the parks has an evening EMH the day you're arriving, you could lounge by the pool in the afternoon, & go out to that park for the evening. You could also do the Fantasmic show (& book the dinner pkg if you're interested).

Can you add a day to your ticket? It's only a couple of dollars more for an 8-day over a 7-day. We usually plan for a day towards the middle of our visit in which we don't go to a park. With the current tickets being so cheap for additional days, we will likely plan a "sleep late" day during the middle of our visit but may still go to a park that evening.

I thought of this too but my fear is I won't sleep in late :rotfl: something about Disney that never calms me down and although dd4 loves it, DH needs some down time. Our late day is Epcot Worldshowcase day since it doesn't open until 11am :lmao: I agree though it is probably worth just for the option.... thanks

The great thing about the new MYW tickets is the extremely low cost of adding days. It only costs a few bucks to add the extra day, and that gives you the freedom of not having to make that decision! Who knows what you are going to feel like doing when you get there.

We've been going for years, and we always say we're definitely not going to a park on arrival day. Of course, when we get there we always go immediately to a park!

Trade in the ticket and pay the few bucks--then you are free to do what you please when you please!
