No online checkin for multiple reservations

Just found (via a vague error and a call to Disney) that the online checkin system can't handle multiple DVC reservations under the same number.

We have a res at AKV followed by a res at VB. Both show as the same res number. The online checkin button shows up, but get the error "We were unable to process your reservation; please try again or contact The Disney Reservation Center at (407) 939-7675. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to dial this number."

My only option - regular checkin.

The system also has very limited special requests. For AKV (Club level) it's "Near transportation" and for VB (OVIN) it's "Ground floor."

The requests section is not for DVC reservations, only regular cash guests. The dining reservation system also has issues with the DVC Travel Plan numbers.

Requests still need to be made through MS and you should not even try to make any on the on-line check-in system. Currently, on-line check-in only works for ressies that don't have any links, such as occurs when you have two resorts or use two different use year contracts for one resort. This is Disney and on-line computer sytems. Its history with such systems is checkered to say the least. It was five years after every other hotel and resort in the nation had on-line check-in before Disney adopted it just for regular guests. It then took it two years to fix all the major problems that the system had. Only Disney could somehow manage to install a search engine for searching for information on its site which magically never finds anything you are looking for. DVC sytems have not faired any better. The website itself is still a modicum of confusion. As to on-line check-in for DVC, it only took five years after they said it was coming "soon" for it to show up. If you want it to handle any complex reservations that have links, you likely need to wait another five years. Some suspect that Disney outsources its computer and IT systems to Daffy Duck.

We could not do the online check in for BLT last month because of the segmented reservations with the DDP.

We also have not been able to use it for segmented reservation, though I don't think it really helps anyhow. In May I didn't use it and actually got my requests, which is rare for me.

Good to know. A bit disappointed as I enjoyed having that as a countdown date! It helped to pass the time.

We discovered this just the other day.

We have had a ressie for the 1st night in a studio and nights 2 and 3 in a 1 Bedroom at VB last week.

We also had a waitlist for a 1 bedroom on the first night as well.

Prior to the waitlist kicking in, the 1 and 2/3 nights had two different ressie numbers. After the waitlist kicked in, we have two ressies show up on dvcmember.com, 1st night a 1 bedroom with the same reservation number as the 2nd/3rd night reservation.

When we tried to do online checkin, it was VERY confused and didn't work.

Never ceases to amaze me! Even if they can't get the code right, some simple text on the web page or better yet in the error message would help greatly! Oh well.

The problem is that the online check in software was not written for the DVC, it was written for Disney's cash customers. The choices and abilities are limited to requests and reservations placed by them, not by us.

In comparison, DVC is such small potatoes compared to other resort bookings. I don't know if it would ever be cost affective for the DVC to have software customized for only our use.

Didn't work for me a couple weeks ago either. Oh well, it's not really that big of time savings to be honest.

And room requests. Goodness I've quit even bothering to make them. It just seems that whoever assigns rooms goes out of their way to ignore any request I've ever make. I've received much better rooms when I've had no requests at all. It's just humorous to me anymore and I don't even make a fuss about. I have just given up. LOL

Yet it would cost so little to just have it not offer the ability for linked reservations or to throw up a meanignful error message - especially if they had planned for that in the first place!

Which is exactly why I am not anxious to have online booking for DVC. I hope they roll it out very slowly and in phases.

All I had to do was call DVC and have them Change the reservation from one number to two separate numbers. Easy peasy

Then after they sent the new reservation numbers I checked in online.

The CM just moved all of my requests to the new reservations.

Check in is July 3rd, so I will see if I still get my requests.

We found all this out last week for our july 5 trip.2 segments all at AKL.CM couldn"t do that for us ,we weould"ve lost our 2d half of reservation .It"s going to be reg. check in for us .Oh well.

Hmmmm. My segmented reservation was all one number. It was segmented for ddp reasons. And I still could not do online checkin. After trying for 2 days, I gave up. As long as you have your requests on your reservation, that's all that matters. I've never waited long in any check in line, except BLT.

Yep, that's what the OP is talking about. "the online checkin system can't handle multiple DVC reservations under the same number. "

I quite liked doing online checkin last December. We had a split stay (changing resorts/rooms more than twice) and the reservations for which we did online checkin got us MUCH better rooms than the one time we waited until we were at the resort. I liked that.

We're getting in on Tues. @ about 11:30AM so i'm hoping we can get our request. Kidani Savanah ,how bad can life be?:yay:
