I didn't know until I got my All Ears newsletter today that Seashore Sweets is closing FOREVER on Feb. 1! I am so mad! For as long as I can remember we have had ice cream from that store almost every night of our trip. I don't know what will replace it but it better have ice cream!!! I wonder if the Flying Fish remodel is related to this sad news?

Just read this also. We got the ice cream there every visit - guess we're walking to Beaches and Cream now.

Jean...I agree with you! This is a big loss for the Boardwalk unless they plan on a new ice cream place. Hopefully the planning people don't think we will go to Beaches & Cream as a substitute. This is the one place we are sure to go whenever we stay at BWV. BOOOOOOOO!! [where's that thumbs down icon?]

Aww, I am really sorry to hear this news as well, Jekjones1558. I always got a kick out of the Atlantic City theming with the pix of many Miss America's.

I have to believe this will offset in some way, or else I greatly over estimated the popularity of the ice cream. I can give up the candy portion of the shop, but the ice cream!!! Maybe they'll move the ice cream to the bakery? Or the Screen Door? Or my villa :)

I read they are expanding Flying Fish. Maybe they will put an ice cream stand on the boardwalk. One area that they are not doing anything with is the former kids club. It's on ground level under the lobby.

Is this part of the Flying Fish refurbishment?

Didn't say, but it's rumored that they may "may" turn the space into a shared bar with Trattoria al Forno. The bathrooms are already shared between the two restaurants and Seashore Sweets.

I saw that the Arcade at ESPN is closing. Maybe that space could be used? I wish that Disney would create a space to serve food like the hot dog stand plus ice cream. That hot dog stand has lousy service but is the only thing that has a variety of quick service food.

Hate to see Sweets close, we were there last month.

The stands along the boardwalk are not Disney owned, they are outside contractors.

:earsboy: Bill

That is sad. I don't have the heart to tell my family. Everyone loves getting ice cream here instead of B&C. Ugh.

I know they are not Disney. I think Disney could do this much better. We go to that stand every trip at least once and there always seems to be a line and a long wait for food.

Several years ago my mother wanted a hot dog so DH and I went down to get one prior to a basketball playoff game starting. It was half time before we got back to our boardwalk view room! Two people working there and they were preparing each order one at a time. I was just thankful we were the second in line. The line behind us was tremendous. I've been hesitant to go back again after that. :sad2:

My hubby loves the hot dog stand, great tasting quick service. There is a wait for it, but it's prepared fresh when you order. There is a shortage of quick service options on the Boardwalk side.

I hoped when they did the remodel of the bakery they would enlarge it, maybe that will expand into the Arcade, because service there is terribly slow, it's a bottleneck. The layout of the Marketplace at Beach Club is so efficient I walk over there for breakfast in the mornings. I can walk over, order and get back in the time it would take me to get through the line at the bakery. If lucky I can catch the boat one way. Then just reheat in the microwave.

I would hate to see either of these close. The ESPN club always seemed packed whenever we were there and the ice cream... well, you gotta have a place to get ice cream on a Boardwalk!
