No No No No No!

Besides extra magic hour, or whatever they are calling it now, the best part is leaving the transportation to Disney. Sure you can have free shuttles off site. But I bet unless you like to wait around a lot and follow the hotel's timetable, Disney transportation would make both of you a lot happier.
Think of the travel time alone you would save by staying on site. If you had your own car and/or a long vacation, off site may not be bad. But....

Hey, the free package delivery to your resort is nothing to sneeze at, espially if you're a "shopper". I don't want to carry stuff around with me all day. The Key to the World room charge priviledge is good, and much more easily replaced if lost than a regular credit card.

Hi everyone -

For our last trip I purchased the the UPH and it was the best option for my family. Since I wasn't very aware of what WDW had to offer I purchased the Unofficial Guide to DisneyWorld and found it to be very useful. If you are looking to determine the best ticket options you may want to try the link below. (I haven't used it myself).

That's a cool link, but I think it has a bug. I put in 6 days in the parks, 2 days at water parks, and 1 day DQ. It recommended the 6 day premium pass which comes with 4 pluses. But it also said I had to buy a 1 day DQ pass. I don't think they programmed it right to include DQ as a plus option.

i think to some extent we can bring the magic to the vacation.

we'll be staying off site in a few days for a lot less money, but i don't think it will affect the fun of the trip at all. (i'll post back if i'm wrong)

if your hubby is into saving money, go with it! it doesn't have to cut into your fun. fun CAN be had even if you're not at a disney hotel.

check out skyauction before your next trip. many people report getting a week at a timeshare for about $40 per night, depending upon when you travel. much better than a Rodeway. and the $$ you save can buy a lot of extra magical meals/events to polish off your vacation.

We've been to WDW 8 times and only park hopped the first year (we're to lazy). We tend to pick a park and stay there for the day, so park hopping I know longer need and can eliminate this from my tickets...great. We do however like the water parks and are willing to add this on. We are saving alot with these particular passes...I think they are a great idea...I hate paying for something I'll never use anyway...now I don't have to!

Help me. What BENEFIT does he get for staying onsite now? OTHER than being inside the magic 24/7

(1) Disney resorts are nicely themed.
(2) Frequent bus transportation with drop-offs near the front gate of each park.
(3) Free parking if you drive.
(4) Varied dining options. Food courts in value and moderate resorts, room service in deluxe resorts.
(5) Saving money with the new passes which are really just as easy as the old LOS passes.
(6) A happy wife ... priceless!

How do you get around the 8 day thing I tried to get a price quote for a 9 day trip and kept getting the 8 day message. What am I supposed to do the 9 th day sleep in the car lol.

Just make a seperate ressie for that...and they will usually let you stay in the same room....we are going for 12 days in October, and I had to book one 8 night and one 4 night...I added the 7 day with hopper and never expire options for the 8 night package so we can use them the whole time we are there, but we will be going to US/IOA too.....hope this doesn't sound too confusing...LOL  :earboy2:

oh, I can FEEL your PAIN! :( I have stayed offsite, and it is just PAINFUL! :earseek: I hope you can convince him somehow that you are getting a deal so you can enjoy the whole magical :wizard: experience.

To summarize the benefits of staying onsite for the OP

1) Early Entry AND NOW Extra Evening Hours for resort guests only.
2) Free Package Delivery to your resort.
3) Ability to add on the Dining option to your pkg.
4) Now you can add the no expiration option to your tickets, not possible
With UPH
5) Use of busses, etc
6) Exclusive FREE transportation to and from airport through the end of 2006.
Ability to check your bags and receive your boarding pass at your resort
Allowing you to bypass check-in lines on your return flights.

We are also great fans of UPH and I've been trying to figure out how 5 days of DQ on a 10 day trip will work for DH and DS. If they use all their admissions for DQ depending on how many days are left, I will have them buy an annual pass for DQ.

I see the OP's point though...UPH could only be bought if you stayed on site, but the MYW tickets are for off site guests too. I would use the free bus service, no parking fees, and the free shuttle service from the airport now...that's some savings just on the free shuttle now.
