Hey Dis-cruisers...My wife and I are getting set for our 3rd Disney cruise and our First 7 Night!!!! But I read in our broucher that on the ship that we will lose Direct TV from Saturday at 1 am till Sunday evening!!! Does anyone know if this is true...although it would make my wife very happy I would be upset if not able to watch my Phins beat up the Raiders on Dec 15th.

Tell me it ain't so!!

Jesse

PS any other Phins fans gonna join us in the ESPN skybox on the Dec 14th Magic cruise?:bounce:

Well, sorry, it IS so. The satellite reception is pretty tricky and it's entirely possible you won't get the game that day. I'm a football fan too so I understand. :)

At least your wife will be happy. ;)

Weird. . .I seem to remember watching Sunday NFL up top both in October 2001 on the Magic and in December 2000 on the Wonder. . .with so many things going on, it may have been on Monday night.

Being from Pensacola, I’ll be on-board and pulling for both Miami as well as the Aint’s against Minnesota on the 15th—if we’re lucky, I’ll see you there!

They do show the Sunday night ESPN game and Monday Night Football on the Magic. The only time I've seen Sunday games was when we were re-routed to Key West on the Eastern back in 2000. Also, if there's a Thursday night ESPN game, they should be able to show that, too.

We are on the 7 night eastern that leaves the day before the Superbowl. There was a separate thread about the Superbowl, but this never came up.

We won't be impacted, will we?

Not that it really matters I guess, since the Vikings really *&%( this year.

I am RadioKage's wife and for every minute he's watching football in that ESPN lounge - I will be in the spa getting a massage or seaweed wrap or something neat like that! HA HA! :earsgirl:

I believe that they usually purchase the rights to the Super Bowl, so they can show it on board. I know that they have shown it in the past. I think the problem with the standard NFL games is that if they can't get FOX or CBS via broadcast, they don't own the rights to pull it off the satellite. When the ship is docked at Key West, they can get the broadcast. They can always pull in the ESPN and ABC signals, since Disney owns both networks. During the days at sea on the Magic, they usually can only show ESPN, ABC, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes (Spanish-language ESPN).

Like PiperG, the Super Bowl is no longer an issue for me. Those hopes snapped with Donavan McNabb's ankle....

We just got off the Magic last Saturday.. My DH and I are both huge "Dolphans" (and season ticket holders). Anyway, while onboard (and docked in Key West) the Jets game aired on Sunday night, luckily on ESPN. Through the entire week we never lost the ESPN channel.

According to my DH, CBS should be airing the game. He recalls having CBS (and FOX) as well at least until Sunday evening. However, we did the Western ports. Maybe you are doing Eastern and therefore things would be different.

Anyway, hope I was of some help..

Go DOLPHINS!!!:bounce:
