No New Plan Details for 2011 Yet... ::sigh::

This is really frustrating...the waiting, that is. The only part of the wait that really aggravates me is that the 180-day window opens on Monday (?) for those traveling in January, and they still won't have details on the DDP. That's poor planning on Disney's part. If they're going to have a 180-day window, then they really ought to have the plans available 180 days in advance of that window opening.

Oh well...it really doesn't affect me. I'm just impatient, that's all...ignore me. :)

:rotfl2:

I feel your pain. I'm not affected by the 180 day thing as we probably aren't going in January but I also have no patience for these things.

The window for those traveling in January opened a while ago. We've had our ADRs done for a few weeks now. We just went on the assumption that we'd be doing the Deluxe DDP and made reservations accordingly. If, for some reason, the 2011 DDP version doesn't work for us (i.e. is too expensive), then we can cancel some of the TS.

I have been waiting till today for months and nothing out yet. I was hoping to be able to get the prices to do our budget and decide on a resort. Even once the prices are out we will have to wait another month or two since my husband is a cast member. Our ability to book is at least a month later. Ugh.

I am so sad that there isn't info out today! The 180 day window today is for Jan 28th arrivals. I am Jan 30th so I need my dining plan in place before Tues or I will have to pay up front for CRT! The other ADRs don't matter and I can still book without any issue. It's just the ones you have to pay for in advance that will be a no go for booking without our dining plan booked (unless we want to pay in full up front but I don't!)! I hate this!!! :sad1:

I paid up front for Spirit of Aloha and have no more worries about it. At first I was skeptical but I am confident that I will get a full refund when I pick up my tickets. The only problem is I have to carry the cost for 6 months - I booked for 6. The good part is the money will be long gone by Jan, and come Jan I will have an over $300 credit on my card which will go a long way to cover other costs at the parks! I agree it would be easier to have the DDP taken care of up front.

Don't risk the ADR because you don't want to pay up front and get a refund later.

Still waiting for the information for my upcoming trip, but with all this talk about January it made me wonder. When will the changes go into effect? Will this even affect us when we go this October?

I know what you mean...I have all my ADRs booked for MLK weekend except for HDDR. I can't book without the DDP b/c I don't have the $ to pay upfront. We are flexible on what showtime we go to but not days so fingers crossed there is avail. when they release the plan. If not..what can you do?? :confused3

My guess is next weekend. They usually release the information the first weekend in August. A lot of people thought that meant this past one since Sunday was the first. More likely, it will be the first full weekend in August (aka this upcoming one).

This will only effect those traveling starting on or after Jan. 1, 2011. The information needed pertains to those packages. Right now, you can not book a package for 2011 since the information has not been released.

Exactly the same stategy used by countless people in anticipation of free dining. :)

This is the one disadvantage.

Not necessarily. Chances are, when the plan is finally announced, there will still be availability for the show you want. For CRT, there's a good chance it'll be within 15 min. Then you can book a new ADR with the dining plan, and cancel the original. This way, you will probably be able to get your refund before the credit card bill is due, so you will actually never have to lay out the money (the credit card company will be laying it out for you, interest free!)

If there is no availability, you will have to eat it for the six months, but this is not likely, IMO.

The downside to this is that the shows do seating based upon booking: the earlier the booking, the better the seats. So, you may be giving up slightly better seats. Or maybe not.

Agreed. Based on the time of year I wouldn't expect any issues rebooking either. I will not be carrying a balance on my card so it's not like I will be paying 20% interest on the cost of the show. This way I will have a nice credit on my CC in Jan when I'm at the park to cover unbudgeted expenses. The way I look at it is I have to pay for it either way (DDP or cash), this way I spread the cost out instead of a big bill and spending hang over after the trip. I understand not everyone can do this, but for me it's not an issue and works out well. Teh other to point out is that this is only a 30-45 day problem. Te vast majority of Disney travelers don't even know this problem exists.

We didn't run into this last year (our first Jan trip) b/c we booked in Sept and the price change was already in place since we added the plan with out probs to our DVC res. I didn't know this prob existed until now either PP! I like the idea of booking now and then canceling and rebooking with the plan but I think I will still sit on it and wait..we are only a party of 2, maybe 3, so chances are good we will get something. Plus, the 9:30 show is our first choice. Tier 3 is also fine with us.

If I remember correctly, for Hoop de Doo, you can get Tier 1 seating on the dining plan for the 9:30 show only. Am I remembering this correctly, or am I losing my mind?:surfweb:

Thats how it was last year, but until they release the details for this plan, everything is subject to change.

FWIW, I wouldnt be too concerned with waiting a week or so on the dinner shows, its probably CRT that most have to concern themselves with.

maybe they will release the 2011 dining plan when they do the price increase tomorrow?? hmmmm
