I have 20 frames with family photos that I had hung in my old room, after spending a hour patching my room I have decided that when we move Im going nail free (or I should say nail few, or pushpins). So how do I do this? Ive got some other art peices too. Im also on a college students budget (and saving up for a trip so its tight).

I am in NO way suggesting you do this but my SIL bought a house where the previous owner was a huge fan of the glue gun! What a nightmare!! They even used the hot glue gun to put down the carpet squares on the hardwood floors, the paneling on the walls and the picture of John Wayne above the bed! :scared1:

my lease actually states no nails in the walls.... yeah- sure thats not gonna happen...

thanks for the link

Command strips work really well. DD & her friends are using them in the dorm this year - no nails allowed there either. If you pull them off per the instructions, they don't make a mark at all. The come in various sizes.

We caught them on sale....that helped.

I use Command Strips when I hang up my Christmas stuff. Do it properly and you won't have any trouble.:thumbsup2

3M makes some products that might help you. Check your local Home Depot, Wal-Mart or whatever.

A friend of mine actually uses push pins for her smaller frames. I actually used one for a light frame in our bathroom, it has never fallen.

I found some new picture hangers that have 3 pins that you push into the wall and a hook to hang the picture on. The pins for smaller frames like you have would not be noticeable otherwise the 3M things work really well. I have our silhouettes of the kids from Disney hung in a bookshelf using those.

at the rate were going were not gonna make it till moving day. shes irritating the heck out of me, Im doing all the work.

There are also some type of cables or wires that you nail or clip to the top moulding near the ceiling. As the cable hangs straight down, you can position & hang as many pictures as you want on each cable, (instead of directly on the wall,) in a vertical straight line.

So, say you hang up four cables, and hang 5 pictures on each cable, that's only 4 nail holes vs. 20. I think some museums use this technique for heavy paintings & wall objects, as they need something extremely stable to hang multimillion dollar paintings off of, without fear of falling down. Not sure what the cables or wires or the hanger thingies to attach to the cables are called. Keep an eye out for them.
