OMGosh -- I thought I was the only Lori that ever happened to --- I am suprised at how many people at work think I am saying Glory when I answer the phone "Blah Blah Blah, this is Lori can I help you?"

so many people say "Hi Glory" :confused3

So glad it's not just me! :goodvibes

I get it all the time, Hi, my name is Marybet, well hi Mary. Or Marybeth. Yesterday I filled out a form and they asked, "did you forget the "H". Yeah I'm over 50 and I still don't know how to spell my name. I spell it all the time, and tell people it is one word, no capital "B", no "H" but they still get it wrong.

It's Beth.

No it's not death! (Right. Because someone would really name their baby death. "Look hon. She has your eyes. Let's call her death.)

:teeth:

ROFL!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You made me laugh a good one with that.... :rotfl2:

Oh how I feel your pain. I've said this before here but it bears repeating. My name is Tamera rhymes with camera. I'm constantly called Tum-air-a. And they always spell it Tamara. Nope, not right either. I usually go by Tammy and you'd think that would be easy. Guess not. I'm constantly called Pam, Pammy, Sammy. I hate it. I just spell it as soon as I say it then remind them it rhymes with camera. Oh, and my last name is NOT Christianson or Christene! Can people not read anymore?

I introduce myself and my name is "Mary Alice" and of course I get "Mary" Do people really think I introduce myself with my middle name...No my middle name is not "Alice" ..I don't have a middle name. My mom does take the blame for not giving a middle name to me. And my name is not Mary Ann, Mary Beth, Mary Lou or Mary Agnes(the priests were always good for that one). Of course for 5 years my DS has gone by "Alexander". He started school this year and the teacher changed his name to "Alex". Even tho he had the same teacher for the past 2 years in preschool. I quess she got tired and his name is too long.

DD's name is Mary Ann and she often gets called Mary or Mary Lou or any other combination. It drives her nuts.

Oh man, this is all just too funny. Sometimes you just gotta laugh! :rotfl2: :goodvibes :rotfl:

My son's name is Brendan, and people ALWAYS call him Brandon. It is really annoying. My son has actually asked me several times if his name was Brendan or Brandon. :)

Finally another BETH to commisserate with!! I've complained to DH that my parents might have well have named me "What" because when I say my name that's what everyone says!!! I hate my name.

Whenever possible, on the phone, business things, I use Elizabeth.

Poor Ds16, Rhett, is constantly called Brett or Rex. I know, it's unusual, but it's fairly simple!

Several years ago I started going by my middle name Kate. My full name is Lauren Kate. A few PITA friends still call me Lauren, everyone else including family calls me Kate. Now my uncle calls me Katie :confused3 :rotfl2: Its just Kate, not Catherine, Katie, Caitlyn, Katie Lynn...

I have a teacher in college who calls me "Kate but your really Lauren" :confused3 I give her weird looks. I feel like saying "No, I'm really Kate" I asked her to stop on Wednesday because for the past four years none of my other teachers have had issues with calling me Kate and having their gradebooks say Lauren Kate (class of 25 students)

What a moron! They thought your name was death?

I simply don't answer people who call me M---y. I introduce myself as Amanda, and that is how I expect to be addressed. Because of this, I am very attentive to the way people introduce their names. If they have a very common nickname, I may ask to be sure if they prefer their full name or a certain nickname. Some don't care, but others like me prefer their full name. I get Samantha over the phone a lot...

Seriously, when I have said my name to people I have had them say back to me "What'd you say? Death?" They say it in a tone like they can't believe that I said that. That's because I didn't say that you dummy!!!!! I mean why would you even question it? I dunno. :confused3 It makes no sense to me. Then again with some of the names celebs are giving their kids these days maybe they honestly thought that's what it was. :goodvibes Hey....maybe I can start a new weird trend..... ;)

I am sorry but this just cracked me up... :rotfl:

Our godson had hearing problems early in life and for years my wife and I were Oo-nay and Cheese. Not as bad as "Death"; probably about as good as "Bath."
