No Mugs or Glassware in Studios

Mugs and Glassware are fine, but kids oftentimes put them back into the cupboard dirty. Guests should make sure that their kids lick them clean before putting them back.

Haha, no way I'm using any dish or cup provided in a hotel without washing it first. I don't care what kind of enhanced cleaning protocol they claim to have. I'm no germaphobe, but yeah, no.

For those who call and ask for either more paper cups or mugs, do you tip the person bringing it?

As shorthanded as Disney is right now, it doesn;t surprise me that they are trying to cut down on Housekeeper time to clean the mugs and glassware. I, on the other hand, hate hot beverages in styrofoam. As long as we can call and get real mugs from housekeeping, I'm good. I can always wash them myself, even in larger units I run stuff through the dishwasher before I use it.

Yes I requested and they did. The big deal is they were always included in the studios. Why do we have to request them now?
I requested ceramic mugs of a cast member, he said they didn't have any. I called housekeeping and requested 2 ceramic mugs and 2 wine glasses (this was just last week). When I got back from the parks I had a ceramic plate with 4 wine glasses on it, but no ceramic mugs. I was only in SSR for 2 nights so I didn't make an issue of it. I can see those styrofoam cups being an annoyance for tea drinkers. Says right on the side "Do not microwave". I'm at BCV this week and still styrofoam mugs in my studio. I'm good though, they did bring me wine glasses on request.

If they come right away, it's probably not a big deal. However, I've waited up to an hour for them to show up with a requested item, meanwhile delaying my planned shower and thus, getting a delayed start to the day. Next time I called again, but it didn't get them there any faster. And I didn't go to the front desk because I was solo and didn't want to leave in case they DID show up. Maybe I have bad luck, but it seems they never show up to my villa promptly.
I just went out after I requested them. I'm not waiting in the room for a cup. Then again, they didn't give me them. I don't see why they could leave me more wine glasses than I requested on a ceramic plate, no less, but no ceramic mug. It's not the end of the world, I'll just drink coffee while I'm here. Hard to make a good cup of tea without a pot anyway.

I bought a new mug when I was at Vero earlier this year because I prefer the ceramic mugs. We have a million mugs at home, so I didn't really want to buy another one. (But, as it turned out it has become my new favorite mug. :) )

After reading that you could request ceramic mugs from housekeeping on this discussion board I decided to give it a try.
In Sep at VGC--I requested 2 ceramic mugs from housekeeping and received them.
In Oct at BLT--I requested 2 ceramic mugs from housekeeping and received them.
In Oct at BWV, housekeeping brought me another coffee maker. I think there was a little language barrier which was solved when I showed the housekeeping person a picture of the ceramic mug I was hoping to get. She returned with the 2 ceramic mugs I requested.
In Nov at BWV--I again requested 2 ceramic coffee mugs and housekeeping brought a bag filled with Styrofoam coffee cups. When I explained what I was looking for, the housekeeping person returned with the 2 ceramic mugs.

***edited to add: the person who brings the item that is requested is not the same person who you talk to on the phone when you initially make the request, so I think that adds to the confusion.

In Dec at VGC-- they said they didn't have any ceramic mugs available, but they could bring me some extra Styrofoam cups. I didn't push it and just used the Styrofoam cups.
As noted by others, they only had 4 Styrofoam cups to start. And, they did not replenish the supply during trash and towel day.

Thank you for your experiences. Note to self-learn the Spanish for "I want a ceramic coffee mug, please".
