Really the issue is this is something that Disney has been trying to take away for years. Again, based on the home away from home model, even in the studios, they were trying to keep some semblance of this model in the beginning. Now, they had opportunity to remove them without hearing from the members.Eh, I guess. Not something I would get worked up over, as long as I can get it with a simple request, but that's me. I get it's not quite as nice as having it already there.
No, that doesnt get you into your room any faster. In fact we did not get into our room until after 7:00p.We have no problem with the paper/plastic products in the Studio. Kinda like it better as they make less noise while I'm getting my balcony coffee and the DW is still sleeping. And if it helps the room be cleaned/ready sooner, then I'm all for it. Just have to remember that in 50 yrs, it just won't matter anymore; so enjoy what you have while you cane
I guess I just don't view making it by request the same as taking it away. I realize I'm probably in the minority on this view.Really the issue is this is something that Disney has been trying to take away for years. I definitely share the frustration with them slowly chipping away at things they used to provide automatically, charging for things that used to be free, etc.
I don’t use them in any hotel room. Gross. I like the paper better.
All kinds of hotels have changed over to paper since COVID.
I have requested more and had no issues. Given the current situation, I can understand why they changed it because there is no dishwasher, and probably could not take a chance to leave them assuming unused, so this way, one less thing to worry about.
Let's be real about this. Eliminating Glass and ceramic drinkeware isn't protecting the guest. There are many items in a room that are much more problematic.
I get it, and I get that plenty of people are super worked up over it. I’m just not one of them. Life’s too short, but to each their own. It's a call that shouldn't have to be made.
Its a culmination of the elimination by DVC. It may have bigger repercussions in the future other than removing the glassware and mugs. You are just seeing one piece of this process. Kind of let’s say “ the slippery slope”.Except, with how many precautions they have taken, I can understand the move right now.
Its like the pack and play. It’s gone but there the asking. If people would like real, they are available.
Honestly, I asked for those disposable ones when I stayed in the 1 bedrooms recently because we didn’t want to use real. And they brought us some.
Just don’t see this as a big deal.

That's not a real reason though which is what I'm saying but if people perpetuate it then they use it to justify it.
Will they bring mugs and other glassware if you request it? If so I’m not sure I see what the big deal is?
Agree!I don’t use them in any hotel room. Gross. I like the paper better.

Tempest in a ceramic mug.IMO, this discussion is a "tempest in a tea pot". YMMV.![]()
Ok I need to look that up LOL….Agree!
I actually prefer the paper cups. I like to sip my coffee on the way to the bus/boat stop, or as I walk to the park.
Like you, I can't recall any hotel room that has anything but disposable cups.
I don't mind the ceramic mugs in the villas with a dishwasher.
