No Mugs or Glassware in Studios

We checked in last night. No mugs or glassware in our studio, only paper products. I remember a few years back where Disney tried this and members revolted. So when did this change occur?
I promptly requested mugs and glassware from housekeeping. No issues getting them. The CM did say “ I usually just buy a mug from the gift shop for our stay” .

Not today Disney, not today!!!!

I THINK Covid allowed them to just slip in those changes. All these paper products come wrapped.

I noticed that too when I was there in July. Both my studios (I had a split stay) at Kidani and VGF, had only styrofoam cups. Yet, I thought that you weren't supposed to heat water in styrofoam in a microwave. So there went my afternoon tea. And I wasn't going to buy a mug in the gift shop-it feels as if Disney is forcing us to buy more and more things (no more free Magic Bands, FP+. etc.) I didn't know that I could request a mug, but since when do you have to request one?

I used the given cup to microwave my tea. Didn’t see the warning until it was done.

What's the problem, the mug from Disney only cost between $10 and $50. Or a refillable mug for $19.99. Such a cheap price for cup of tea or coffee. Ha Ha Disney knows we have money to spend.

Well if they try to phase out microwaves in studios over time ( starting with VGF resort studios) think of the money Disney will save not having to put microwavable glassware ( mugs) in the units. Oh, no fridge no need for glassware either.

Since I hate washing dishes by hand and I especially don't want to do it on vacation, I am glad there are paper products in the studios. But I also don't drink coffee or tea; so no mugs needed.

been that way ever since the Covid closure. Guess they finally had a reason to remove the washable stuff. Everything they put in the studios now is individually wrapped.

But they give you maybe 4 - 6 paper cups. How long will that last with drinking anything?

I drink canned soda, but also have water bottles for myself and my kids and a Brita pitcher in my Owner's Locker. I could always call Mousekeeping to get more cups if necessary.

I don’t get it. If it was a Covid thing, they wouldn’t have them in one bed/2 bedrooms. I get that the dishwasher disinfects , but that is assuming people use it. I don’t buy that it’s Covid related. Not anymore.

Exactly! And that's what upsets me the most. They probably figured that since members get so upset every time they mention doing it, they'd finally figured they'd just do it and not tell anyone. But people are noticing. I noticed back in July. Some people MAY prefer the cleanliness factor of paper products-wish they'd give us a choice and at least have 1 or 2 mugs in studios.

Yes I requested and they did. The big deal is they were always included in the studios. Why do we have to request them now?

I keep my own ceramic mugs and real utensils in my owner’s locker for WDW stays. For VGC stays, I always buy a new mug. It’s easy since I am local and drive to DLR.

I have requested more and had no issues. Given the current situation, I can understand why they changed it because there is no dishwasher, and probably could not take a chance to leave them assuming unused, so this way, one less thing to worry about.

Eh, I guess. Not something I would get worked up over, as long as I can get it with a simple request, but that's me. I get it's not quite as nice as having it already there.
