No More Straws At The YC

We knew this would be coming: starting today, the Marketplace at the YC does not give straws anymore. There were already no straws on display yesterday, starting today they give no straws to those who ask, and explain this is the new Disney policy that eventually be applied at all locations.

It's a bit sad that WDW chose to not give straws of any kind, instead of replacing them with the paper straws they are using at the AK (granted, it would be more expensive for them, but isn't the price of a Disney vacation more expensive for us anyway?)

Thanks so much for this information. I'll be there in 2 weeks, and I really like going to the YC Marketplace. MUCH better than the BC, so even though I stay at BC, I go over to YC to eat. One more thing to add to my packing list-straws.

We were planning on bringing straws (plastic and re-usable) regardless from all the reports. I guess we'll also carry around our refillable mugs to dump drinks in them if we don't get lids.

Does anyone know if the Starbucks in the parks is also doing away with the straws too? I know the ones outside of the park mentioned they will eventually but they haven't started to yet

I read that for people with disabilities, they were still going to provide straws. Hope it's the case for you and the many others!
Early reports though are that it's not happening. There was a poster on one of these threads that had asked for lid/straw at I believe Cosmic Rays for a disabled person in their party and they were told they didn't have any.

Not at all surprised at the resorts as this will help them push the sales of the refillable mugs to those not on DDP.

Straws were on tap at the Beach Club marketplace this weekend, fyi. But regardless I now take straws with me everywhere when I travel. I like soda & I don't drink sodas without a straw.

A few restaurants in my town have switched to paper straws. The look like plastic, only they're brown and made of paper that's biodegradable and recyclable.
Why can't Disney do this?
