No more Stanby line for A&E?

I'm so confused. So they stopped the A&E test and are starting a Soarin test?

What is the endgame here?

I have a bad feeling that they are going to make some rides FP+ only using the app/website. Like that Pooh test that snuck in...

Sorry, I've been off DIS for a while.

What tests? Were they bringing back FP machines (PLEASE SAY YESSSSSSSSSSS).

I can't quit my paper FP addiction. We were at WDW last Dec the week right before they pulled the machines. I don't understand the decision, esp since rides like Pooh and Philharmagic and Barnstormer clearly could benefit (and take away some crowd levels) since they are usually walk ons. I can see them taking away headliner FP machines, but it's pointless for the "little" rides.

Anyway so yea, test = bringing back machines for some rides? :wizard:

No, there are no machines. Instead they hand out a giant piece of card stock that won't fit in your wallet. Seriously.

What happened with A&E is that they filled the queue up to the main entrance. The standby line was then closed and Tlthen folks were given paper cards that said come back at such and such time. Return time was in half hour increments. It was stated that during the evening it opened back up. Now it sounds like the test is going to happen at Soarin'.

Personally I'm sorta viewing this as a detached FP. I don't like the idea of reservation only system but can see how there could be an advantage. I have not seen it stated that Disney is rolling this out for good.

The not fitting in the wallet part cracks me up. I mean seriously...where are ya supposed to put it. Guess I'll have my backpack but surely those suckers are gonna get lost much easier than the nice little pieces of paper some of us loved so much.

They remind me of the the golden tickets from Wonka. Pretty soon Disney will have us buying Mickey Head ice cream bars for a chance to get a treasured pass on one of the E-ticket rides.

I think I either must have been lucky or benefited from staying for a long-ish trip, but our stay is from 22nd - 1st (well 2nd, but no park that day), and I was able to get Mine Train and A and E for three with no trouble. I actually got everything I wanted, after the drama of not being able to get in until 1:00 a.m.

No machines...yet. If this gets rolled out permanently (or implemented during peak seasons only), I cant imagine it will continue with a person handing out large cardstock tickets. I would bet it would go back to a machine that scans your magicband and spits out a small ticket the same size as the old FP tickets.

Wow the huge card stock thing is hilarious...I'd love it if they would return some form of detached fps, but a limited return of machines would be awesome.

If they bring back machines it will be ones that look more like FP+ kiosks. Because this isn't a solution long term its a stop gap for very long for an extend time stand by queues they are not fastpasses the system works differently.

Did they collect the card stock *passes* once you returned? Only reason I ask is that given the hysteria I'm shocked we haven't seen this go up on EBay for $30+ each; framed and mounted with an autograph from A+E. They'd sell like hotcakes...

Yes. They collected them as you returned. They were color coded for the M&G, but not dated. The Frozen sing-along has them dated and color coded.

Well, that ought to resurrect this puppy. popcorn::

Someone's trying to figure out how to get rid of long 90+min SB lines. FP+ alone won't do it. Time for phase 2

Yep. And all options are on the table.

Well, except for adding new attractions to absorb some of the demand.

I think they already spent their allowance for the year on MM+. Maybe the next 2 or 3 as well. I think technically, if they put a big recliner next to the spot where you pickup your FP's they can keep running the commercial.
