No more Stanby line for A&E?

I'm so confused. So they stopped the A&E test and are starting a Soarin test? What is the endgame here? I have a bad feeling that they are going to make some rides FP+ only using the app/website. Like that Pooh test that snuck in...

Oh that would really stink. :(
(I missed that "test".)

They remind me of the the golden tickets from Wonka. Pretty soon Disney will have us buying Mickey Head ice cream bars for a chance to get a treasured pass on one of the E-ticket rides.

Don't even suggest that!
Or you get them after you eat at X or buy Y experience. Ugh.

Including employing a low-tech ancient ancestor of legacy FP, apparently. Good thing they spent those millions on all of the upgraded IT for MM+.

It's just sad IMO.

Hmmm. Lost my quote from mom2rtk - how many cool rides could have been built as a crowd dispersing plan?

What was the Pooh "test"? Are there any reports out there that this is happening today at Soarin? Touring Plans still says 90 minute (73 expected) wait but the Disney app does not display a wait time for Soarin (40 minutes for Spaceship Earth (yikes) and 90 minutes for Test Track)

They were going to make Pooh M&G's FP only a while back, after 2 or 3 days they cancelled.

I noticed the same thing, Josh's site isn't listing Soarin' either and TP's lines app hasn't changed since early this morning so maybe nobody is updating it on TP.

I believe the "Pooh" test is referencing a month or so ago when they decided that Pooh and Tigger M&G in Epcot would be FP+ only...no standby. Hope someone there now can chime in on whether or not Soarin' is doing the card stock passes today.

Soarin' is next? I wonder if their plan is to get all of the super headliners into this system? If they do won't the lines for rides like the Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth increase? Those people who no longer stand in the long lines will end up somewhere.

I think some folks are wondering if this is a move to 100% ride reservation. I would think lines somewhere would have to get longer.

I can't see a 100% ride reservation system but I could see the headliners going that way. People have to be able to do something while they wait for their next FP+ and Disney's shops aren't interesting enough to do much shopping.

I don't know how long it will take, but if this is true about Soarin and other major headliners, I think at some point almost everything will be FPP only. Why not just throw every ride slot into MDE. They want people spending.

Maybe they can set up more DVC kiosks.

Spending on what? Merchandise is generic for the most part and people can only eat so much. What will they spend it on?

I wrote DVC above as a joke...sort of.
I think this is also part of getting people to spend more time "enjoying their WDW resort" (aka get out of the park now)

Or perhaps mini golf or bowling!

Just thinking the non headliners will have long standby lines if folks aren't waiting for the headliners. Where will they go....like you said....prolly not shopping.

I am def NOT a shopper. I just need one stop at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe and I'm good to go. Although I think I read a thread yesterday about Haunted Mansion store...might have to check that out.

The shops all have the exact same thing in them in one form or another. Not a great way to pass the time.

I am still reeling that The Great Movie Ride is a headliner FP. Really? I have never ever ridden that ride when it wasn't a walk-on. Now it's got long lines? I don't understand Disney anymore.

That's my theory currently. I think the point is so that people WILL be doing something else other than standing in line. I agree though, giving everyone 3 FP out of the gate didn't do it, they just used their free time to get in line for the other headliner they couldn't get. I like the return to legacyish FP though and the requirement that you have to go to the attraction to get your pass. SB is going to suffer though, something has to give. Not sure I hate that part, I'm not getting in a 90 min line anyway.

Trying to understand, each popular attraction can only process "X" guests in a day.

But is this basically accurate from this last weekend:

"everyone" who experienced A&E waited app 10 minutes the entire day

"everyone" who experienced Gringotts waited app 200 minutes the entire day

Standby+ is more like a 30 minute return time.
