No more Stanby line for A&E?

You missed the step where you get everything you want finally all lined up and it all disappears. You don't have to look long on the first page of TPAS threads to find reports of this happening.

:scared1:
:badpc:

Hey, everybody give me your KTTW cards. I'll walk ahead and get FP's. Meet you at PP in 10 mins.

Exactly! I am so concerned about losing my FP+ selections that I am reluctant to do anything. Our family has FP for a ride that DW doesn't want to ride, but we have elected to not try to change hers to something different out of fear of losing the ones we want to keep. When I added out flight information for Magical Express, I did it over the phone so I could first confirm with that they could add it without losing my FP selections (to which he laughed and mentioned that it is now quite common for callers to IT to first confirm that FP won't be lost before anything is done, even for simple things like adding Magical Express or resetting passwords). I know that I am being paranoid, but I've often joked that "just because I am paranoid doesn't mean that I am wrong"!

Just another sign that this system isn't working as hoped. :sad2:

I'm so confused by this. Isn't the point of FastPass+ to allow guests to AVOID getting to the park early? I'm still wading through this thread, but I saw that this new scheme was going to be possibly attempted on Soarin' and Midway Mania as well. If that's the case, this is already proving FastPass+ to be a complete failure for me.

:thumbsup2

Yup. Reading some of this stuff has me shaking my head in wonder. It's so easy! Just book for one person, copy this, then check every day for the next 45 days and gradually move your party around, easy peasy!

It is absolutely ridiculous.

The silver lining is that most of US are willing to go to that trouble in order to score the most coveted FPs. The general public is not, which means that the DIS advantage remains intact. ;)

Ok, so I know it has no tie in what so ever and isn't going to happen... but they should build Arendelle instead of Avatarland and AK.

Not at all. We're rope droppers who spen the first 90 minutes riding a ton of rides, then FP 10:30/11:30/12:30. Grab a 4th for later, and back to the pool to beat the heat.

Ive played around a bit to get them to almost perfect. I have also printed out the webpage showing what I have scheduled for that day. It may not be good enough if something happens, but gives me a better fighting chance if something did go wrong!

And I didn't have this experience. Our arrival day is Saturday August 23. Our first MK day is August 24. My window opened at 1AM as well; I could not book us as a group (of three) for A&E for the 24th. I broke us up and found overlapping times for (around) 4PM. Checking back pretty regularly I moved us up (one at a time, always keeping either my wife's or my time overlapping w/ my daughter's) to about 1PM. I found individual spots open until about 45 days out.

Our last day at MK is Friday August 29th. Before I went back and booked for the 24th, I was able to get FP+s as a group for A&E that day for 1:20PM, with lots of choices. And that was as a group of three, not even booking individually.

And I was also able to book 7DMT as a group either day with, again, lots of times to choose from. That's why I'm surprised at the lack of availability in late September. I would have no idea why Disney would reduce the number of slots, either, as capacity is capacity, unless for some reason they want more people using the Standby. Another M&G (i.e. Epcot) should play no role in this.

I'm glad it worked out for you! I am looking for the same week for a group of 5. I have a couple times found ways to get 3 overlapping on 7DMT, but I've been going in about a dozen times a day and still don't have 4 that can ride the mine train at the same time. I am checking for 4 days that week and none of them work! I gave up on Anna and Elsa because I was getting at most two at a time- which would never work as my kids can't go alone. The sad part is I had a day with both booked at the exact time I wanted and then we had to cancel that as a park day so the last few weeks my life have involved a ton of sitting around frantically rechecking the website. For 7DMT reducing capacity may make sense because they reduce the number of cars on most rides in slower seasons, I don't think they would reduce the princess' schedules, would they?

i didn't read through every page so i'm not sure if this has been posted, but i was there when standby was closed for anna and elsa. the day i was there, they were keeping it closed during peak times, but it reopened during the main street electrical parade and the fireworks. i don't think it's a bad idea, if they release more fastpasses equally amongst 60-day, 30-day, and day-of options.

A&E are back to the same old, same old. The test is over and the area used for distribution is boarded up. Just walked past it a few minutes ago.

Boarded up as in they are installing something behind a wall for permanent distribution maybe (They rolled over the FP- machines overnight and are tweaking them, lol). Did you hear something that Soarin was starting a test this week too?

No one in my family cares about seeing A & E. We do ride Soarin, but its not a favorite (but there isn't much to ride in Epcot, so we do ride it) same with TSM in DHS. I just don't think its fair to charge your guests entry into the parks, and then not allow them to experience the attractions. What about the people who have no idea, or if you want to plan a last minute trip a few weeks out.

We are planning on going back next June, we haven't been since 12', but if WDW keeps up all this, I just don't know how I will feel about it. I have been reading up on all the changes and trying to keep a positive attitude and give WDW a chance to work out all the kinks. But, its getting a bit ridiculous.
