No more Stanby line for A&E?

Any clue if other rides are part of this test...like Soarin' as mentioned in the OP link? I see that KTP posted about it too...with pics of the cards. http://kennythepirate.com/ I
I saw Mine Train somewhere (was it on here can't remember) just a rumor I would bet anything with a common wait time over 30 min would be a possibility for this...Soarin, TSMM, maybe Test Track

I saw Mine Train eluded to on another board as well.

Are you under the impression that it takes only two friends to staff an additional M&G spot for two characters?

OK lets call it 20 needed for a M&G. You're telling me in Ny and LA alone, there aren't 20 out of work actresses who could fill the role?

What a mess! I think doing away with standby completely is a mistake. As crazy as it seems TO ME, if your #1 priority was meeting Anna/Elsa and you couldn't get a FP+, at least you knew you could standby and definitely see them. This sounds like it will be crazy and I feel bad for all of the little kids who will be heartbroken. I am thanking my lucky stars I managed to get 2 FP+ for A/E for our trip - I wasn't able to get them for all 6 of us, but at least the member of our party MOST invested in meeting them will get to do so.

But it sounds like the only one currently being tested is A&E? Only asking because I have some friends there now : )

I am really curious to see how it works out in reality. I don't see this as all of these kids not getting to see them. There are currently bunches of kids who don't get to. Over spring break, my sister, niece, nephew and I were at MK. We hit rope drop with the hope if C getting to meet Anna and Elsa. The wait was over 3 hours within minutes. She started to wait, realized how short the line was for space mountain and decided to ride that instead. If she could have gotten a return time for 3 hours later, we totally would been able to make that happen. She was disappointed but made the choice for herself. There's a point that you can't get in the standby line too right? Either way, there is a limit to the number of people they can get through the line.

Yes, but for the most part, people whose No. 1 priority it is to meet A&E, will plan to be there at rope drop and be in good position to get a return ticket.

I feel bad for the people who read Josh's blog post this week about the line being better at night and they show up today or tomorrow evening completely unaware.

FWIW, Inside the Magic said everyone they have talked to made it sound like this system was likely to be implemented after the test is completed. Disney doesn't like to roll things back after testing. So, barring catastrophe, this system seems to be coming for A&E.

I actually think this will complicate things by increasing the demand for the meet & greet. When the line is hours long, many decide it's just not something they are willing to do. How many more will now be interested again if they can just get a return time? There was an endurance requirement previously that they just removed.

Sounds like me talking about FP+ "Testing" last fall.

I kept saying this isn't "Testing" this is phased deployment. This isn't how things might be, this is how things are going forward.

People kept pointing to Disney saying "This is just a test" and I kept saying no in the operations business tests have "Start Dates and End Dates." When you have start dates without end dates, it's Deployment. ;)

I think they want to keep it as a hard-to-get attraction in a way. Keeps the hype machine going.

That's what I think! I was up at midnight to book at our 60 day mark because my dd8 says she'd rather use FP+ for rides but when we're there, I totally expect her to sing a different tune. Too many stories of people I know waiting 2-5hrs on line.

Curious as well...would love to get one for TT instead of waiting online and prefer not to separate for single rider (ds5 and dd8).

I'm heading over to the MK on Monday for lunch. I'll be interested to see how things look then.

But others that at 1000 look at a the ticket for 1730 and say "yep, no problem".. only to have had to deal with a melt-down and the loss of the princess pen, and ...whatever... by the time 1730 hours rolls around they are like "No way, forget about it, we need to be on the bus back to the resort."

I'm sure there will be some dropouts.

I just don't think the numbers that side of the equation will be large.
