No more Stanby line for A&E?

So...I got up at midnight when my 60 days opened and got an A&E FP for exactly 5:30! Now do you think I'm going to have to compete with all these paper fast passes and have to wait over an hour at 5:30?

These are not "Paper Fast Passes" these are gate keeper slips for the stand-by queue.

FP+ Enter the Fastpass queue at the selected time.

IF the stand-by queue wait does not exceed 30 minutes (or what ever the time is) you may enter the stand-by queue
Else goto the queue keeper and get a slip from them about when you may enter the queue.

I am interested in seeing Anna and Elsa, in January.... I find it quite interesting that they have resorted right back to the paper fast passes to expedite the line.

I've been on 3 trips to WDW since the introduction of FP+, and I don't like it.... but, that's another thread.

So, is there No Standby, at all, for the meet & greet?

I would imagine you have to be in the park at opening to secure one of these paper fast passes. If you get there at opening , I would imagine there is a chance you may get a fast pass for 8pm...??

Has anyone heard how they are monitoring this yet? Does everyone in your party have to be there? Can you get more than one time in a day. Come at 9:00 get one come back at 10:00 get another?? If you already have a fo do they let you get this also?
What about the other rides? Still have not heard anything about soarin. So much for park hopping if you want to do this and can not run with masses.

This should be interesting.

People could sell these tickets for some serious coin probably. They see a family crying because they cant go in because all the tickets are gone. No problem family, I have a set of 4 for 5:00 I can sell you, lol.

There is a standby line but only as far back as the outside que entrance. They are cutting the line off there. If you note, those passes say you will still have a moderate wait when you return.

They all spontaneously combust at midnight, Mission-Impossible-style.

That would be cool!!!

So glad I have a FP+ for our trip!

So there is a time, but no date. I wonder if they're going to change colors to determine which ones expired, or if they haven't thought that someone might try to use it a day later.

I guess until we have first hand reports with details we won't know for sure. Maybe there is a date written on the back?

And all the passes were gone at 2 pm EST. Once the word spreads about this they will be gone much quicker.

Mesa was right - this sounds like TSMM all over again.

Seems like even if you are offsite, it might be worth renting a throwaway room at the beginning of your trip to get the 60 day booking window for this (depends how much it's worth to you)

Nope, they're routinely booked at 12:01am on your 60 day already by people who's 60 day opened earlier the same week.

This whole thing is a mess, it's been brought up many times in this thread, but there are thousands of struggling actresses in the US. Surely there are two out there who can be deemed A&E worthy for a different M&G spot.

Are you under the impression that it takes only two friends to staff an additional M&G spot for two characters?

No worries, I hear there's a new system testing soon that will allow guests to book A&E non-fastpasses before you even get to the park. You go online at 12:01a (or maybe 1:10a) 60-days prior only if onsite and select the time to enter the A&E non-fastpass line. When you get to the park, you show up at the appointed time to get your non-fastpass for later in the day, then enter the standby line at that appointed time and wait only 30 minutes.

Recursion--it's what's for dinner.

That is so meta. :goodvibes

Too bad the guy who opens the door at POFQ doesn't look like Anna or Elsa; he works 24/7/365.

Except that if you missed out on the TSMM passes and were willing to wait....... you could.

And I agree. If they were gone by 2 PM when nobody in the parks knew to anticipate the change, I can't imagine what it will be like when people figure out the new way of doing things.

My group alone had 9 fps for Anna and Elsa a couple of weeks ago....pretty sure we weren't the only ones in the building with fps.

When they say 9 fp/hr, I wonder if they mean 9 FP for 1:00-2:00, then 9 for 1:05-2:05, etc....so there would still be overlap...

I.haven't read the whole.thread, and can't...moving tomorrow, must pack! But I'm not thrilled with this test. Like arwen said...a march to 100% ride reservation continues, and I'm not a fan.

I think there are a few reasons why it's more difficult at WDW. One, working a party is a bit different than the park. At a party you're not hounded by countless numbers who are willing to push and shove to see you. For some people that can be intimidating. Two, where would they put a second or even a third queue? If they make another queue you can bet that the wait time for that one will be almost as long as the first, so where can you house that many people without compromising another attraction?

I don't think they need another line at MK. They need to put a meet and greet at EPCOT or DHS. Put them back in Norway for a meet and greet, and issue fast passes in the same manner they are testing right now at MK. DHS has plenty of room for a meet and greet. It can be done. This is not as difficult as balancing the national budget!

At 60 days out for our trip starting Tuesday I had no problems getting A&E FP on day 1 of our trip, as late in the morning as 10:00 AM. So it's not always incredibly hard to book on day 60

The blogger went back and edited their story later. Now they say that 9 per hour is how many Disney was releasing on the day of.
