No more Souffle???

The only souffle I remember in the regular dining rooms is the grand marnier souffle. That is very good too. :)

That is what I had-- The Grand Marnier souffle- it was delicious and I loved the sauce they poured in it! THANKS FOR THE INFO!

Do they no longer have the Grand Marnier souffle?

If you go to the Castaway Club website, there is(was?) a recipe for the souffle. That's where I got mine...

it was the head server who brought them to us..and it was the night before our Vow Renewal and wanted to wish us good luck since we would be having our reception in the Palo Room the next night

Are you guys serious? No more chocolate souffle at Palo's? That's one of the things I was looking forward to sharing with my first-time-cruiser family members!

Maybe I should check recent trip reports...

As I posted earlier, I got off the NYE Magic cruise a week ago today and had Palo chocolate souffle . . . don't worry about it, it is there!

To the OP, I was on the Magic back in September and Lumiere's no longer had the Grand Marnier Souffle on the menu.... so I'm guessing that's the same at Tritons.

Palo still had the chocolate souffle.

The souffle recipe was sent out in one of the "don't you want to re-book" advertising pieces that DCL sent out several years ago. I've never made it, but know I can find it if I look!

It was also in the now defunked Disney Magazine some time ago. My DW has made it many times. The only thing that makes Palo's better is she doesn't have to do any of the work. So the recipe isn't top secret, and I'm sure the same chef hasn't been at Palo for the last 10 years on either ship.

When I worked for a major corporation, I had to sign an agreement that anything I developed while working for them was their property. Can't believe that a company as large as Disney doesn't have a similar clause....sounds to me like they're feeding us a line.

Agree.....

Its a worn out 'set answer'.

Cold you send a copy back to Palo by fax they need it, ( and scones):lmao:

I understand the replacement 'Big Mac' is now the Chef's specialty, not sure where he came from, ( now thats me out of Palo)

I googled it and found the ingredients for the Big Mac

"Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun."

I wonder if you can get the Big Mac anywhere other then at Palo’s? :rotfl2:

Pluto's dog house are working on it, but lost the recipe, I understand they are going to kidnap another Chef from McD's to help them out.

My son is a chef and has worked in public, country club, and corporate settings. Some places do have the bit in the contracts about if you develop a signature dish for them then it remains their property if you leave. Depending on what the developed signature dish was he was "paid" for the development.

When he developed some recipes on his own they remained his property unless he "sold" them to restaurant.

I know what you mean with restaurants, but on DCL they have 'corporate menu's, and also 'corporate instructions, every dish has a photo who is to be presented, every menu is designed by DCL head office, managers in catering.

I was told the changes for the Palo English afternoon tea was from a corporate manager who decided to change them and the severs were not happy as they are getting considerable complaints.

Agreed. Also...like anything else...if it becomes something that is requested by too many people they could stop the special treat all together.

While I sincerely understand this, are there any tips to getting them to bring you one?

I tend to be on the passive side, and get told "no" a lot when I request something that I know to be available. I just don't know if I come across as not authoritative enough or what, so I just want to increase my chances of getting the chocolate soufle.

We likely will be heading to Palo for brunch, but not really into it for supper, so any help would be appreciated.

Ask your head server if it can be done for dinner in the main restaurant, -just don't tell them I said so.

Haha thank you, but what I meant, is how should I word my request? As I mentioned in my post, I get told "no" a lot, something I am working on by the way, and I just don't want to come across as someone that will take no for an answer.

I understand,

This is a big ask and remember that, it can cause a lot of work, I politely ask my head server, when he /she checks first night that everything is OK, and asks if there is anything 'extra' they can do for you, and then I ask,

Now it is a big ask and they cannot do it for everyone, so you cannot 'expect' hence I try not to post this on the boards, but I have had my kids have Palo Soufflé at Dinner twice now in the main dinner, by a polite request. Do ask the head server, is their responsibility.

Please everyone reading this understand that it cannot be done for everyone on every cruise.

I would hate to ask in front of everyone, just in case I get shot down; then, I'd be embarassed.

Any way to ask, without doing so in front of the whole table?
