No more Ringnes beer?

Aass is a good beer. I suppose "Bud" will sell better, though (unfortunately).

I just broke the news to my husband, who had just said: "In 5 more days I can enjoy a giant Ringnes". . .the look on his face broke my heart! :( Our trips to Disney are they only time he can indulge in this favorite--he had his trip around WS worked out so he could fully enjoy and appreciate his GIANT beer. Carlsburg. . . What is the company thinking?????

Still, Uncleromulus is right, the silver lining is we can now stop in Germany--so happy that Beck's is gone--it's so available and not that good anyway. I really, really wish that the best of the best from every country was represented rather than that which is able to afford the contract to distribute. . .all that AND the pub is closed for rehab. . .it's a dark day in EPCOT for us!

We were there 5/29 and 6/2. We all ordered Ringnes and were told that was what we were getting (I swear it tasted the same).

Carlsberg instead of Ringnes? It's like replacing Amstel Light with Coors Lite. Or Samuel Adams with Miller. Or...well you get the idea. :(

Disney does tend to dumb down their offerings over time. I'm a tea drinker and I still remember when they used to offer Twinings tea all over the resort instead of the muck they have now.

It's true - a former favorite on our drinking around the world tour, we were very disappointed to find Ringnes missing a few weeks ago and Carlsberg in its place.

But some good news...the UK cast members told us that when the pub reopens in July (2nd?), an additional beer from Ireland will be on tap - Smithwicks. It is one of my favorite beers, previously not available in the U.S. until this past March.

So while I mourn the loss of Ringnes, I hoist a glass, now filled with Smithwicks, to the newest addition to the tour!

BTW...it's pronounced Smit-icks, not Smith-wicks as you would think! Enjoy!

I guess that we'll be returning to the British pub and bypassing Norway for now. Yikes, they removed the smorgasbordt and now Ringnes is gone. What's next?

I just did a Drinking around the WS yesterday, and asked about the Ringnes beer, to see if they could offer any updates. At the Kringla, they're pretty upset, and apparently are trying to get it back. I believe they said something about trying to get it by August, but don't keep any hopes up.

This is definitely sad news. I always looked forward to a stop in Norway (for medicinal purposes only).

At least they have apparently upgraded the choice at Germany. As a frequent visitor to Deutschland, I have always been dissapointed with the choice of Becks. There are so many better beers from Germany.

Well, they just removed the hot portion of the buffet. I believe they had finished the changes in October, actually. Did you order your hot dishes from your server?

when we were there may 13-17th we tried to order a ringnes and were told that their contract was not renewed...i can't remember the other choice other than bud light...but the cast member did say..." ringnes was not from norway ut from scandanvia anyways"

and the Carlsberg they serve here in the USA isn't even Danish - it's brewed by Molson in Canada.

So the Norwegian pavilion is serving a Danish named beer brewed by Canadians.

Oh and the Foster's we drink here is brewed by Molson's as well. When I went to Australia I discovered that the Molson Foster's was better. Of course nobody drinks Foster's there anyway. They drink VB. But I digress.

Ringnes was actually taken over by by by a Danish Company--Carlsberg/Tuborg--in 1993. I believe the beer itself was brewed in Norway tho.
Which makes me wonder--why not just KEEP Ringnes around anyway???
Unless they stopped brewing that brand name altogether, it dosen't make a whole lot of sense----.

Hi, forever42! Actually, we DID order our hot dishes form our waitress--I just thought that's how they did it--now I know that's the way they do it NOW. If I remeber correctly, they call the cold buffet a "coldbotdt" (sp?).
