No more Old El Paso mini taco shells! Need idea for Dora birthday party!

Hi!

I just found out that Old El Paso no longer makes the mini taco shells. I put a special order for them when I didn't find them at King Soopers and the guy said he called Old El Paso and they are discontinued as of about 2 months ago!

For DD's birthday party, we are having a Dora the Explorer theme and the mini taco shells would have been perfect!

I need some ideas. I want to have finger foods for about 20 people, mostly adults that don't take too much prep work. Since it is a Dora theme, we wanted spanish/mexican food.

Any ideas? Is there anywhere I can get mini taco shells?

could you use small soft tortillas instead? It would probably be neater.

I believe sam's club or BJ's actually sell the frozen mini tacos. A friend just got them for a party a few weeks ago

I have seen large boxes of frozen taquitos & other Mexican-style appetizers at Costco. (And when I've had a sample it's always been tasty.)

Food Lion and our Walmart's carry Jose' Ole' mini tacos. They have meat and cheese. This was always our dd's favorite meal at her daycare.

ITA - I would check out the frozen appetizer section of your market. Lots of yummy Mexican stuff!

yea, I know, I love making homemade taco's and this was always a big treat around my house on saturdays. I hate that

Not sure where you live, but Trader Joe's makes EXCELLENT mini Taco's. They are the best ones I have tried.
Another idea is to pick up a Quesidillas Maker at Linens n Things and make them cut up into little triangles. Always a big hit at my parties.

What about "taco dip". I've never made it, but I have been to parties where it is served, and its quite tasty. It is layers of sour cream, seasoned ground beef, cheese, and topped with lettuce and tomatoes. You dip corn chips into it.
