No more meal deal .....

Oh no we are going in January and I was planning on this. It is still an option to add to their tickets wonder what happens if I ordered the tickets with that option and now its gone.

Any advice??

Never cared for the meal deal since I didnt really like the restaurants on it.The dining plan wont work for us since we mainly eat at the resorts and those restaurants arent on it.

I agree...except for Louie's at the Studios. I rarely eat at any of the MD restaurants.

There's a big difference price wise and content wise with the new dining plan and the meal deal.

Let us know what CS says about honouring the meal deal.

Per Leah in Guest Services a few moments ago: You can still purchase the meal deal from their website when buying tickets. They WILL honor those with no expiration (I asked about last week of January and she assured me there would be no issue).

She would not however confirm the 11/1 date of the change and just said in the near future it would be changing. And could not offer any information on the new plan at this time.

Darn was hoping to wait to order tickets but think I better jump on this since they are also doing the buy 2 days get 1 day free offer on ticket price. Growing teenager its a better deal for us.

I hope the new plan does not crowd the sit-down service. I cannot stand what Disney has done with making plans where I'm going to eat months before. This is what makes Universal so special. You don't have to make any plans and have a real vacation. Do what you want when you want.

It isn't bad at Disney when the free dining isn't on.

I can't see Universal jumping on the free dining in conjunction with the free unlimited express passes. It really isn't going to be necessary since they've got so many new attractions in the works.

I do see the increase in attendance because of the new rides having an impact on dinner reservations. They made need to be adding more than just one new restaurant.

Totally agree - and I suspect it will - but unfortunately the masses are....

In case anyone is interested..

We bought our tickets and booked the "old" meal deal today, for our trip in February. When DBF called, he was told they would honor them on the days we are out there (2-10 and 2-11).

What I found weird, was the CM told him that we only needed the one drink deal for both days. Does that not defeat the purpose of the drink deal? I guess I wont look a gift horse in the mouth, but I just hope we dont get dinged our second day for drinks based on what information was provided to us.

IMHO, this sucks, we like the old plan. What's wrong with having both. That way the disney dining people will get the fancy meal deal and some of us can get the old one. Some people eat more than twice a day. I liked the old one, this sucks.

I just spoke to someone from Universal Studios and there is a Quick Service Dining Plan which I thought was like the meal deal but after a brain freeze I realized it's not unlimited. This really does stink, I was looking forward to the meal deal!

I was there today. We had one meal at a CS restaurant. My meal was $10, I had a refillable cup for $1 refill, and a side dish of $2.99 fries. Total for the meal was right around $14.

The lady at the checkout offered me the "meal deal" of $18.99 for one meal, one drink and two snacks. I said, "So I would only get one more snack today for an additional $5?" She agreed that didn't make sense.

We did enjoy the refillable cup and refillable popcorn though!
