sorry if this has been posted, but i just spotted it.

Disneyland Promotes Healthier Eating, Parts With McDonalds
By AP

LOS ANGELES - The Walt Disney Co. is closing down all three McDonald's outlets at its Disneyland resort in Anaheim, Calif., on Sept. 2 as part of a planned refurbishment, the company said.

Disney said the move is not related to its push, announced in 2006, to promote healthier eating choices for children at restaurants at its parks.

"We make enhancements throughout the park on a regular basis," Disneyland spokeswoman Lisa Haines said Friday. "We'll continue to offer guests a wide variety of food choices."

Disney announced its healthy food guidelines the same year it wrapped up a cross-promotional relationship with McDonald's Corp., with the last joint marketing campaigns on "Cars" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

There is still a McDonald's outlet in each of Disney's four theme parks in Orlando, Fla., and one at Disneyland Resort Paris, the company said.

Two years ago, Disney announced a plan to eliminate added trans fats from food served at its parks by the end of 2007, and the company said it had met that goal.

On Monday, the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest said 93 percent of kids' meals at 13 major restaurant chains, including McDonald's, had too many calories.

I love how the author states, "Disney said the move is not related to its push, announced in 2006, to promote healthier eating choices for children at restaurants at its parks," but he/she titled the article, "Disneyland Promotes Healthier Eating, Parts With McDonalds"

:confused3 :rotfl: :upsidedow

Yea this is old news but great news neverthess!!! I wish they woulg get rid of all corporate sponsorships in the park. It seems very tacky to me!

so that little cart that sells mc donalds fries is gone??? nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! im a really healthy eater, and i dont eat fast food much anymore....but those fries were soooo good...and im really sad that its gone:sad2:

Mmmmm yeah I never ate the fries at the wagon but every time I walked by I enjoyed the smell of them. I might miss that :C

I remember at WDW I couldn't find anything to eat that wasn't fast food some days - it was so disappointing! I'm glad DL is a bit more health-conscious.

Last year on our trip I just died laughing when I saw that you could get McDonalds as Disney (I never knew this little fact prior). I had to get pictures of DD with her fries cause I thought it was so funny. Only in Disneyland could you go and still get McDonalds. I am sure that with everything else available no one will miss it.

I believe that it is still around until after the long weekend in September.

haha yea for sure! im eating really healthy right now, but at DL we REALLY enjoy ourselves! thats what vacation is alllll about;) my son loves them too, so im really sad about this! churros are always our morning snack, and the fries were always our any other time snack! lol

first, bernie mac dies, now, the mc donalds fry wagon! this has not been a good week :(

Yea, their sponsorship with McDs is ending. I was wondering if other McDs, (not at the resorts) will still be the places carrying the Disney toys in their Happy Meals....:confused3

We ate at the McDs in DCA once, never again will I pay double price for McDs. Although I will miss the smell of fries as I pass the Wagon:sad2:

So how much will you pay to not have corporate sponsors? Likely park tix would top $100 a day.:scared1:

Well, it isn't too bad, there is a Mac Donald's on Harbor. Just by the fries on the way into the parks, at lunch time and on the way back to HOJO's kido's will live!!!

I don't mind seeing them go but I too will miss walking by the fries wagon and shack and catching a wiff of the McD's fries.

I have an awful memory of our first trip to DL as a family when I think of these McDonalds fries. My husband threw a huge tantrum when I bought a pack for $4. I will never forget the price because he made such a big deal out of it lol. In fact, on our last trip he even said, (about us having money saved up) "And you can buy as many fries as you want!"

This sucks!!! The one affordable meal that my kids will eat.. Like the food that Dl serves is all that great. Their burgers suck! We only eat the chicken tenders or the mozarella sticks. Well guess that means that we will be taking all our meals in.

There are plenty of good meals at Disneyland, go to the Golden Horseshoe, they have good fries, yummy chicken strips and moz. sticks.
And if you MUST have your McD's just leave, cross to the far side of Harbor, walk about 5 min. and there you go...McD's, complete with free drink refills and a value menu, not a dollar menu but a value menu. :)

I will be sad to see it go, too. I don't eat it, but my kids do, and that's the only thing they eat in the park. Since they stopped making Mickey chicken, my dd doesn't like the chicken that Disney serves. They also don't like their burgers or pizza. It's convenient to be able to get the kids McD's at DCA & go next door for pasta & salad for me & dh. It is inconvenient to leave the park to walk across Harbor to McD's, although, I'll give you that it is cheaper! We don't normally stay in hotels on Harbor, so we wouldn't be walking by it. I wish Disney would get some better food in the parks. It would be great if they served Mickey waffles or something all day-the kids love that stuff-and why can't they bring back the old Mickey chicken?! I know everyone's kids are different, but this is just my dilema! (one of my kids is autistic, which makes food more of an issue for us, too) :)

Doesn't bother me any, that Burger Invasion (aka McDonalds) was always super expensive anyway! We never got the fries at the little cart. Well I did once, as a teen watching Fantasmic for the first time. But haven't since then.

We usually get McDonalds on Harbor anyway.

I went to DLR yesterday to take all my McD's pics before everything disappears.
I've only gotten the fries from Conestoga Fries, since they're my mom's favorite, and I'll miss feeding them to my duck that I named Henry. He was right next to the pond by the wagon and loved to eat them up. Such good memories!
