Why all the fuss about gas prices? Get a life. Liberals should be happy because this will resuscitate the debate for alternative fuels and punish the gas hogs. Conservatives should have no opinion because this is the free market. So what's the big deal? Live with it. If you don't like the prices--walk, bike, ride the bus, carpool, buy a more economical car or hybrid. If you're conservative, shut up and let an industry make profits on its product, which is in high demand in the good ol' USA. We are the biggest consumers of natural resources in the world, then b**tch when the laws of supply and demand catch up with us. There, we're finally done with that.
Thank you for letting me rant.

Yeah. I'm not complaining as much as some do but ours is $2.30 for the regular unleaded here. We just drive a lot of miles a day to work and there is no bus in the citys we work in.

Could bike but tell me, would you ride 15 miles each way to work?

And if this is in regards to my post about cheap gas and airline, I highly doubt you look inside. Because i didn't complain once. I just offered a site to those who are looking for cheapest gas near them. :)

I think its only natural for posters as consumers to want to find the cheapest possible prices and best deals. When prices increase by fifty percent on items such as milk, gas, and heating oil/natural gas, it affects people in a negative way and can seriously tax some peoples checkbooks. While you may not be able to do much about the prices, it is still going to be frustrating when these extra expenses add one or several hundred dollars onto the monthly expenses.

I'm neither a liberal or a conservative. I'm a normal everyday middle class American lives on a budget and does not have much wiggle room when it comes to money issues.

Typically when gas prices increase, it creates a chain reaction and affects the price of other consumer goods. Why? Because the produce you and I buy at the grocery store needs to be transported from somewhere and that the cost of transporting those goods become more expensive. Do you honestly think that corporate America is going to eat that cost? No... it will be passed down to the average consumer, aka me.

So yes it hurts my budget when I now have to budget extra money for these items. Yes I will complain when at the end of the fiscal year I hear about the record profits that gas companies and their executives are making. I will complain because now I have to cut out some of my discretionary spending just so I can survive and get by because not only is my gas price increasing but also the price of food & clothing & services that I use.

EXCELLENT post!!! Don't worry about the trolls of the world, apparently, they have not figured out how to ignore posts they don't wish to read. :) Read the profile of the OP, visions of greatness run through his head.

Yeah - what do you expect from Michael Eisner? He's just mad 'cause nobody likes him.

He needs to go sit with Captain Hook a while and leave us alone.
His post certainly does belong on the debate board.

I hope that now that there is no debate board that it doesn't start creeping into other forums......:scared:

After reading the replies and reflecting, I have altered my viewpoint and come to the following conclusions:
As consumers we should complain about prices and never consider the fact that we are a spoiled culture raised on the conviction of entitlement. Our grandparents who braved the Depression and WWII could teach us a lesson on what it means to do without. (Don’t forget to watch the dedication of the WWII Memorial this weekend.)
We all want good-paying jobs and benefits to meet our budgets, but somehow expect our employer to keep us on the payroll without making a profit. No fair making “record” profits—capitalism is no longer permissible in the USA.
As the richest nation in the world, in the history of the world for that matter, we should be allowed to consume at a heart-stopping rate (literally for the obese) and not consider the laws of supply and demand.
I am a troll.

Wow,
just be pleased you don't have to pay our petrol prices in the UK ;) :p That works out at about $7 for a litre of unleaded!!
Alison
Looking forward to driving in the US next year :p

Nope, don't intend to have that happen at all.

And since it does seem to me that this thread was started solely to start a debate, it will be closed.
