This forum used to be such a fun place...full of snappy banter and wit. I really counted on it for a chance to cheer up by reading a lot of funny stuff from very smart people. There are meaningful threads here, definitely, but the light-hearted conversations are pretty much gone. Rob's death was devastating, I know, but can we never go back to when there were threads that were clever and funny and lovingly sarcastic? :sad2:

Yes, Rob took a huge piece of the light and fun with him. However, the restrictive rules of the DIS interfere in the natural banter of the LGBT community. Politics, which are absolutely forbidden here and such an intrinsic part of our lives that not being able to banter or discuss their influence on our daily lives drives us to other venues.

Also, the restrictions on what is "appropriate" and what isn't runs afoul of the fierce wit and cutting edge humor of many of the people who (used?) to visit here. Again, off to have fun and banter at other venues.

Along with you, I miss the "old days" but I don't see them returning. It means of course that the "new days" have yet to be defined and experienced.

Of course when I first came here I read through Rob's wedding thread, and unfortunately never got the chance to meet him, or join in any of his frivolity...I hope to be part of the here and now though, with all of you. I look forward to conversing with all of you, with what we can converse with. Within the limitations of what we're able to speak of.

The above comments, and Facebook, pretty much slowed this area of the Dis down to a crawl!

Yes, the number of posts here have pretty much dried up. The only time I check the board is when I get an RSS posting that something new is here on the LGBT forum (which isn't often). I've even stopped listening to the podcast. Things change and I now get my Disney fix on other sites. :sad1:

I can't ever be as naughty here as I'd like!!!

Poor Mike....he's seen some things.... ;)

I have to agree... it's a combination of the restrictions of the Dis (which I can understand since it's a family site) and the rise of Facebook. There are several groups of us on FB.

Its not so much the rise of Facebook, Facebook has been big for years (I've been using it since 2001). What happens normally is that you meet a group of people online on a limited subject message board (i.e. here) and then finally meet in real life. Then one of two things happen.

A-Have so much more in common than what you originally only discussed (i.e. Disney on here) that you have to move your conversations to somewhere more accepting. Once this happens you no longer have a need for the message board as you have basically done what you set out to do...which is meet people with the same interest as you (Disney) and then found out you can discuss more than just the primary topic with them (Disney) and move on to other ways of keeping in touch. In other times it would be e-mail/snail mail... Facebook has just made it easier to stay in touch.

B-Think the person is a psycho and never want to do anything with them again. You then block/ignore that person and restart the process until you achieve the above or you think everybody there is crazy and leave yourself.

At least that's why I'm not here. I've met a great group of people on here where we discuss more than just the latest Disney promotion that as a single traveler saves me absolutely no freaking money and have moved away from the DIS. I'll probably be back before Gaydays or Binge and Booze (What I call food and wine) for the newbies looking to explore the waters of enjoying Disney the gay way and that's about it.

I'm still here!:goodvibes But seriously I feel the neglect. Usually they will get busy around Gay Days but with the close of the Pleasure Island clubs Gay Days really has lost it's luster for me (I remember the "glory" days).

BOO! Witches with a B!
Look who's back!
At least for a bit!
