While I am not happy about the fact that WDW is now charging for Valet parking it wont take the magic out of my trip to the GF. Last time I stayed in Philidelphia I was charged $15.00 a night for parking with no choice to self park. Last time I went to Washington DC I was charge $12.00 a night to park with no option to self park.
I will probably still use the valet parking for $6.00 a day and I will still tip the normal amount to the attendant. It wont take the "magic" out of my trip. Walking through the gate and seeing Main St. for the first time will still excite me. The first time that I see Goofy I will still run to him like a child!
I wonder if the people who are tipping less are the people who have the tip calculator cards in their wallet and only tip a set amount no matter the service. I will never forget the time that I saw someone at a diner have breakfeast for and hour and tip the the server half a dollar. The man had a decent amount of plates to be delivered but because he ordered the specials his bill was $4.00. The waitress did her job right. She was constantly refilling his coffee (free re-fills of course) and the waitress never had to bring anything back due to poor service. It was someone stuck in their ways.
Could some of the reason that WDW is charging for Valet service is that it is a cost to them? While I understand that it wouldn't cost $6.00 their needs to be some number. I am sure that there are insurance liablilities and such.
Anyway just had to vent.
