No more free embroidery on Mickey ears?

If this has already been posted, I missed reading it but I read in today's weekly All Ears newsletter that there is now a $2 charge for the embroidery at MK.

Yes, there is now a charge for the embroidery on the Mickey Ears. It is $2 at MK, but $7 at MGM and Downtown Disney (better quality embroidery).

First timer, I know my DD7 will want ears, where is the best place to buy them and have her name embroidered?

JMHO, but if you are going to pay to have embroidery done, I'd have it done at Days Of Christmas at DTD or at Celebrity 5 & 10 at MGM where they do the nice embroidery. It cost $7, but you get to choose the color thread and the font you want. They do a very nice job. It is so much nicer than the quick loopy stitch that used to be for free and is now $2.

I agree with Feralpeg - I was very glad that I got everyone's golden ears embroidered at the Xmas Shop - they delivered them to the resort the next day and they are beautiful.
Funny story - I could not find DNephs Peter Pan hat to his costume before we left, so I had to buy one of the ones they sold at the hat shop at MK. I decided to add his name to the back for him (with the single, loopy embroidery) - well, when the really sweet CM held it up before putting it in the bag, I didn't catch that she misspelled his name (Dillion instead of Dillon - she even dotted the i !). When I realized the mistake I was going to take it back and have it redone, but we all had so much fun calling him "Dillion" (said with a thick french accent, of course) that it became it's own fun - he wanted to keep the misspelled hat and we created a memory that I'm sure we'll still be laughing over when he's taking his own kids to WDW some day ! The hat will have a place of honor in our disney room - so be sure and check the spelling on your hats !

We always buy ours at MGM, I never even realized it was free at MK.

I bought some golden ears last week for a friend; didn't hear the $2 charge as this is first I heard.

Unpacked the ears today to mail to her, and they say Mhgdsfsd or something to that effect. (Not her name....) Guess the $7 is worth it!
