No More Fanny Packs on Coasters!

I was in the parks Aug 8-10 and had to remove my fanny pack for the rides mentioned. The lockers were not a problem, I was just worried about forgetting my locker #. I wore my fanny pack on MIB but was asked to store my flip flops under the seat. On DD and Hulk I just held my flip flops and on Dr Doom just left them on the ground.

To give an idea of what doesn't stay in pockets, just look up at the net that protects you from all the flying stuff at Hulk. Three years in a row we've see all different sizes/kinds of stuff sitting in the net over the walkway (glasses, water bottles, etc.) Think how many people walking on that walkway would be hurt by flying stuff if that net wasn't there....but it only covers one small part of the ride track. Another good place to see all the loose items that got away? At the bridge that crosses over the end of Ripsaw Falls, look down where the boats go under the bridge..all kinds of stuff swirling in the water (shoes, hats, water bottles, etc). At MIB, during our recent July stay especially, our cars stopped on several different occassions because somebody's something somewhere fell onto the track. Last year, we were stuck in front of the "too bad you won't remember it" flash......over and over for a good 15 min. because something was on the track. There's a good reason not to try getting away by jamming all your loose stuff in pockets....it does not stay put with all the spinning, and in the case of Hulk, etc. turning upside down. We never found the lockers difficult to operate, crowded yes. I think it's great that US offers free use of these while you're on a ride...and they're really close by to the ride.

Was just there last week... 2 separate weekends.. and 4 days total... No Fanny Packs allowed ever on anything.. I stopped wearing mine the second weekend.. but I witnessed the staff telling all to put EVERYTHING in a locker. I did ask a staff why I couldnt' wear the fanny pack when i wore the EXACT same one last year and was allowed on everything with it.. he told me that there were some "problems" and now nothing is allowed. So, that was my experience.

I know they changed it
we went last week and they didn't let my mom bring it on the mummy
i thought that wasn't stupid, but it was foolish how you can't bring a fanny pack on mib. if its strapped on...w/e

Since Mummy enforced their fanny pack rule last year, I have taken to wearing a small wallet around my neck clipped on a lanyard. I can fit my passes and money in it with no problem. It also makes it faster when you are entering parks since you don't have to do bag check.

Yep, that's what I wear also. You can buy them for around $4 at any of the Universal stores. It is nylon and folds with a zipper compartment. The wallet holds creditcards, license, AP, and dollar bills. Sometimes I wear it around my neck and other times in my pocket. When I have it in my pocket, I loop the lanyard strap through a belt loop or drawstring (depending on what I am wearing.) That way the wallet can't fall out or be stolen.

Around your neck, you can slip it inside any shirt you are wearing so it doesn't hit you in the face on rides like Hulk.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like your fanny pack wasn't a small one if it could carry all of that. I think the small fanny packs are still allowed. I'll try to find out.

I just got back a few days ago and was allowed my small leather fanny pack on both Mummy and one time on Dueling, but not Hulk. Its very small, it could hardly fit sunglasses cell phone and park passes. It is barely larger than my adult size hand.

I guess if you had a honking huge fanny pack, you know the ones with the two water bottles on each side, they will make you go to a locker.

Just came back from Universal Studios and at the Mummy ride, we were told to put everything into the lockers. I'm glad I read about the lockers on these boards and so we had no problems at all with the lockers. This was our absolute best ride and even better was that we had FOTL and rode it 4 times in a row - (My DH & DD did - 2 was good enough for me).
