No More Early Ticket Pickup?

I think you can email guest services til the cows come home and the answer will be no.

The true indicator will be the reports of others successfully getting their tickets in the days right before you leave.

I agree, but as with anything Disney, all their policies are subject to change at a moment's notice so someone being allowed to get them today does not mean someone will get them tomorrow.

IMO, anyone who needs to have the tickets early should at least have a back up plan in case when they arrive, they are told no. Nothing worse, IMO, of getting to WDW and starting out the trip with an unplanned glitch.

I asked about early ticket pick up on the mom's panel and here is what the answer was:

"I know what you mean about trying to get your tickets in advance of your reservation time. We were able to pick up our park tickets three days in advance of our resort stay last year. It's a little tricky because some of the Cast Members are not entirely sure of how to go about it. If the Cast Member is unsure, have them talk to a supervisor, they should be able to help you out. Here is how the procedure works:

First, you have to pick the tickets up at a Guest Relations (Guest Services) window at one of the four Main Theme Parks or the one in Downtown Disney. Cast Members cannot do it at a resort because it's a totaly different ticket system. When you are asking the Cast member, tell them that you need an "Early Ticket Pickup."

I hope this information helps you with your planning and if you have more questions, please ask away, we are always here to help! Have a Magical Time at the Walt Disney World Resort! Thanks so much for asking the Moms Panel!"

I agree. That's why I will put more credence into a successful report from someone in the week leading up to my own trip than I do in what is being reported now. And yes, we have a backup plan.

Those of you coming in for free dining on Dec 11th with a room only on the 10th......

The promotion dates changed! I just got off the phone adding the 10 to the free dining part of the package.

I changed mine when I found out about the date changes. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore but Disney really needs to get this figured out. Good luck to all of you who still have to try it! Let us know how it goes!

I changed mine, but then at the same time my husband changed what he wanted to do and we added 2 room only nights back on ahead of the package.

I found this thread very interesting since I had a problem with this on our Feb 2010 trip. I was assured by several CM's that I could pick up my tickets 3 days early yet when I arrived at guest services at MK I was told the "policy" was no more than 48 hours early!

After a 45 minute battle (with 2 crying kids behind me) they made me appeal to the manager of the resort where I had booked the package who, with much snippiness and reluctance, finally agreed to grant the request. Nice way to start off a trip.

I would highly recommend that noone count on this.

This was not entirely true on August 17, 2011. I had room only reservations at All-Star Sports for 2 nights, and then a package on Aug 19 at Pop. After checking in at ASSp we went to Pop and picked up our tickets 2 days early. When we checked in at Pop on the 19th our tickets were merged onto our KTTW cards.

Good to know! Thanks!

This thread has really helped me to put things in order before I travel to WDW in May 12. I am a Disney Specialist in the UK and made the mistake of booking my tickets included in a package with the accom for the end of my stay. I have used all the contacts I have in WDTC and contacted Guest Relations. Just wanted to advise that the official line is that you absolutely cannot pickup your tickets up earlier than your package starts. Granted it does seem to happen on occasion at the gates, however its a risk that I cannot afford to take. I would therefore suggest that if UK guests are splitting their stay on and off site, ensure your resort stay is at the start of your vacation in order to collect you tickets at check in.
Happy vacation planning.
