No More Early Ticket Pickup?

I spent the better part of the day worrying about this and then I did what I do best: picked up the phone and spoke to three different people.

First I spoke to Bonita in ticketing. Not. helpful. at. all. 'Nuff said. She was so rude and said "it can't be done" then asked if that was all I wanted. No "have a great day", nothing. Whatever.

Then I called Guest Relations. Yet again. lol I spoke to Cheryl (now for the 3rd time :lmao:) and told her I was still getting conflicted info. She assured me I could pick up my tickets early.

Still unsure, I called back to ticketing. Spoke to Rachel and she was very patient. I'll explain why: she said I couldn't do it. And I kept insisting I could and then I read her, word for word, what Cheshire Figment (the man!) posted. She said, "could you hold on for a moment why I contact Guest Services". She came back on the line and started aplogizing to me. I asked her what for. She said, "you were right, you are able to pick up your tickets early for the package. It's just the dining you won't have access to". I told her I didn't care about the dining, I was just concerned about getting into the parks. :) She thanked me for giving her new information today. too cool!

So, that's my take on it. I am going to a Guest Relations window on October 20th armed with all my names and dates (and a print out of Cheshire Figment's instructions) and getting my tickets.

Have a great night everyone!

I will be right behind you on the 22nd! :cool1: Armed with names and info!

So you say, "Thank you for your time," and move on to the CM in the next booth. ;)

Exactly! If I have to go to one of the parks, I will, but I truly believe that the DTD location can and will provide me with my park tickets. Put it this way, I've called to that specific location four times (when I say I spoke to Guest Relations, that's who I called. Yes, I have the direct number). All four times, I have gotten a resounding "Yes, you can absolutely pick your package tickets up early".

Would it be nice to have an email? Yes. But I do have the print out of Cheshire Figment's precise instructions. Forewarned is fore-armed as my old boss used to say. I am prepared; that's all I can do at this point.

Now if a darned room discount would come out for the days I need......:lmao:

Almost canceled my reservations until I read this. Now I have a little hope that I will be able to pic up tickets early. I'll be there on October 21st. I have been looking forward to this vacation since March, but now that I can't get any concrete statements I've made myself sick over it..... I'll feel much better with tickets in hand :)

I'm going to keep watching this thread hoping everyone will keep us all updated on their experiences.

We were just discussing the trip last night and couldn't get our touring plan worked out. the only thing we could come up with was adding one more day at the beginning. Sooooo... now I will be in the same boat with everyone else......... more than mildly annoyed if I can't get tickets that first night. I will indeed be needing them for a full day of park touring. Keeping my fingers crossed.........

I am trying it! I accidently booked our trip this Oct based on the 2012 calendar. (That's what I get for trying to book with 4 kids running around :dance3:) When I called to change my dates, the resort we wanted was not available.

So, based on this information, I am going to simply book a room only at the Movies for our first night. Then add a day to our park passes on the ressie with the package. If they will not give us the tickets, no huge loss. It is our drive-in day & we will not even get there until 6:00. Just enough time for a parade & fireworks!

I will post back on my success or failure.

I just wish they would have the policy on their website, regardless of whether it's allowed or not!

My assessment is that what started out as a courtesy provided to a few travelers has, through word-of-mouth here and on other Forums, blossomed into a major loophole that's cutting into revenues.

My assumption (and that's all it is) is that so many people have begun requesting this "courtesy" that the suits have decided that it needs to stop.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see a policy of "no more courtesy exceptions," because of the popularity of the "courtesy."

Those of you coming in for free dining on Dec 11th with a room only on the 10th......

The promotion dates changed! I just got off the phone adding the 10 to the free dining part of the package. Of course in the mean time we decided we had to come in on the 9th now, so we still have a room only, but probably won't need the tickets that night anyway.

There are a couple threads in this forum on this, so if you missed by a day at another time, do take the time to double check!:banana::banana:

And everyone please still post back here on how you do picking up tickets early. We still might decide to go into a park that night!

Picked up.tickets for package three days early today. No problem at all.

Yay, good to know! :cool1:

There are instructions??? Are they in the Ticket info sticky thread?

I'm planning to pick up my tickets a day early (in 5 weeks!!!) so I want to make sure I'm fully prepared! :thumbsup2

Yuppers. :goodvibes Go to the ticket sticky and scroll down to section J (I think). The section is labeled "Picking up your tickets early".

Have a great day!!!

Picking up Package Tickets Prior To Start Of Package

In cases where Walt Disney World Resort Guests would like to begin using their Package Tickets prior to the day of check-in (up to three days in advance), the Guests will be directed to visit any Theme Park or DTD Guest Relations location and request Early Ticket Pick-Up. (Note this cannot be done at a water park.)

It is only valid for people with packages at a Walt Disney World owned and operated Resort. You can be staying off-property at the time you pick up the tickets. Note that if you have a package which includes Dining, although you can pick up your tickets early you cannot get access to the Dining until you have actually checked in to your Resort.

There is a possibility that if your package and the stay prior to the package are at the same Resort that you will be able to get the tickets at the Resort and not have to go to a Park Guest Relations Office.

And the tickets issued will be valid for the entire stay; they will not receive valid tickets when they actually check-in to their resort. There is a strong possibility that the tickets you have received prior to check-in cannot be added to your KTTW on or after check-in.

I would suggest you copy down the following information if you are planning to upgrade promotional tickets. If the person in the window is hesitant to upgrade these promotional tickets, ask them go go into The Hub >> WDW >> Work >> Ticketing >> Processes & Business Rules >> Early Ticket Pickup For Resort Packages where they will see the procedure.

Hmmm. I have a room only reservation for the 9th and 10th of December and then a package for the 11th through the 17th that includes free dining. I planned on picking my park tickets up one day early until the "no early pick-up" threads started appearing. I emailed Disney and complained because I never would have booked the 9th & 10th if I would have know that I can no longer pick up my tickets one day early. They then offered me a 35% discount off my first two nights if I keep the reservations. (I am grateful they offered this to me - they did not have to do this.) I was going to buy Disney Quest tickets with the savings from the room discount. I am staying at POP, so the free dining would be the better savings, but I dread the thought of changing my reservations AGAIN.

Just so you know....... they have now added the 10th as part of free dining. I just added it to mine yesterday!

Did they say in their email if you would or would not be able to get your package tickets early? The discount is nice but what about the tixs? Who did you email?

I emailed guest services. She said I would not be able to pick up tickets early. But - as you can see - some people have still been able too.

And, I think what that tells you is that you just never know what the official policy will be when you arrive.

Right now, they are still allowing it but tomorrow, it could stop. I think if it was me, I would plan for the worst and just hope for the best.

Good luck!

I think you can email guest services til the cows come home and the answer will be no.

The true indicator will be the reports of others successfully getting their tickets in the days right before you leave.
