Is there no more gifts in the stateroom from DU if you book through them?? Last time I got a nice box with a bunch of gifts in it and I was disappointed to not get anything at all from them this time around, expecially since its the 3rd time I have booked with them. Have they cut that out all together?

I got my Mickey Bon Voyage box with the photo frame and cards in it from DU :cool1: It actually is VERY nice. I saved all my navigators and other momentos from my trip in it :goodvibes

I booked through DU in Sept. 2004 and Dec. 2004 and didn't have a gift in our room on either of these cruises. My friends booked through All Seasons and they got a photo album. I'm not sure what is typical.

Sheshhhhhh that stinks for me but good for you LOL...we booked the same exact time as you too too!! How odd! I loved it last time to bring home all my pictures etc in there so they didn't get bent...I had a nice 8x10 I boughtand the darn thing got bend on the trip home!

We booked through DU for our 10/04 cruise and both cabins had the gift box which is great for navigators and such...am waiting to see what happens on the August repo cruise. I really hope there is something...I always try to book with the same person and the gift is vey nice...makes a special day even more so.

Boy do I feel left out. I've booked 4 cruises for myself using DU, and then brought along 3 more cabins of people on 3 of the cruises, and I have never gotten a gift.

I thought you only got the free gift if DU had 8 or more staterooms booked for the same cruise date. Kind of like a group cruise, but you are not part of a group. :confused3

I believe Miss Kelly is correct. It is based on the number of rooms booked. I thought i read at one time that they had gotten rid of it, based on DCL changing something. We got one in 2003, but not on our December 2004 cruise. While nice I think the service I get from DU is the best gift.

We got the memory box on our 12/04 cruise & we booked a single stateroom.

I've been several times through DU (and again for March 2006) and have NEVER gotten anything. Since Im a teacher and it's "peak" time, I can't imagine that DU didn't have many other bookings at that time so I don't quite think it's based on how many they book on the same sailing even if you're not part of a group. Don't know what the deal is here :) The cruise is wonderful -- gift or not!

I can't speak for DU, but for my clients if I've given a big discount or onboard credit then frankly I just don't have the budget left for a stateroom gift.

So for those that didn't get a "gift" - did you get a discount or onboard credit?

Well Brittwoman and I both got the same discount and we got the 200.00 shipboard credit from Disney for rebooking while onboard then just transferring over to DU and she got the gift and I didn't....so that would blow that theory.....must be some other thing they go by...can't be repeat bookers since this is the 3rd time I have booked with them and her first.

Thats what i thought too. On our wonder cruise we did not get the gift, but on the magic in june 04 we got the memory box.

Here's my theory.....if you book under the DU group rate you get a gift. We got one last week (western 4/23), the memory box, but my parents did not. We were booked under the DU group rate....they only have a limited number at this rate. My parents, who also booked through DU, were unable to book with them under the group rate. Our confirmation number was something like 123456 group#7891...we had to book our shore excursions through DCL's group 1-800 option. My parents went through the regular DCL 1-800# to book excursions.

The "downside" was that we were unable to get a stateroom credit from DU or DCL. Apparently on a group rate you can't get any other bonuses. My parents did get the onboard credit from DU. But since we saved alot more than the onboard credit offer, we were very happy.

To be honest, I'm not sure it was DU that gave them out. The impression I got was that it was actually from DCL for booking with a group. I just found the card ita came with and it states on the bottom: Bon Voyage Memory Box- Group Amenity.

I, too, was disappointed to not have a gift basket in our room. I had specifically e-mailed DU a week or so before the cruise to ask if there would be one, since it was my parents first cruise and I thought it would be a treat for them. I was going to order something from Shirley if they didn't think they would have a gift basket from Dreams. I was told it looked "likely". I then asked to be notified if it changed to "unlikely" so I could order them something myself. No notice, and no gift basket. They also somehow didn't check our dinner seating, and although all our reservations said "SECOND" seating, our Key to the World cards said FIRST! It doesn't make any sense since we requested 2nd seating, and there was a BIG waiting list for first seating. We were able to get it changed, thank goodness.

It sounds like we were on the same beach in St. Maarten, as well! We did a private tour of the island in the morning with a local woman we heard about on the internet--she was GREAT! My parents went back to the ship for a nap, and we went out to the beach. My husband rented a jet ski, as well. The vendors were VERY annoying.

Did you get your upgrade?

on our 4/16 Magic sailing, our 2nd with DU. On the card it said something like "thank you for rebooking with us, DU" It was a nice surprise.

My guess is that if you rebook onboard and transfer, DU's commission is so slim that they probably can't provide the gift.

No, no upgrade for us...ship was sold out so couldn't buy one at the port. I didn't even ask DU if there would be the box...guess I just figured I got it last time so it would be the same....oh well, live and learn.
What did the people who booked with AllSeas get in their rooms??

I booked w/ DCL, though not on-board, back in Fall '03; Transferred to DU several months later, got the Bon Voyage memory book with the mickey bumby-type face foto holder. Had never booked w/ DU before. Was very pleased with their doc service, with their results in getting our dinner table request filled for us. Didn't expect anything, but it did make for a nice welcome, along with the Castaway Club towel & pins and the bon boyage champagne and petit fours I'd ordered ...nice way to start what ended up our best cruise ever (and that was with a complete rainout at CC)

We booked our 4/16/05 cruise through DU... We got the Bon Voyage Gift Box. It's great for keeping our Navigators and other cruise stuff in! This was our 1st cruise.

I transferred our Suite booking ( a 3 day land and 4 sea) to DU, and my brother also transferred his ressie to DU asa well.

This was Feb 05.

Neither got the gift from DU.
